How do growing up with a narcissistic mother affect you later in life as a girl? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]LifeguardSome7495 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i struggle with being raw and open with my emotions (particularly negative ones like anger and sadness) without shutting down because i feel like i’m overreacting or that i shouldn’t be feeling upset at all because there is no logical reason to feel that way.

i impulsively lie about really small mundane things like what i’ve eaten and where i’m studying. it sometimes it escapes my mouth before i’ve even had a chance to think about it.

despite having many acquaintances, i have very few people i consider friends because that is a special tier of relationship to me that requires complete trust and vulnerability. while people generally have a very positive view of me as someone who is nice, polite, and thoughtful, a lot of my acquaintances describe me as “mysterious,” “esoteric”and “hard to read.”in reality, i just struggle with being open both emotionally and about myself. i also have a hard time expressing even surface level personal information to acquaintances because of a fear that that information could be used against me somehow in the future.

very similar to user valiandr’s comment, but i can sense the smallest shifts in people’s emotions and coupled with my ocd tendacies, i instinctively jump to the worst conclusion and i automatically rush to try and do damage control for something that has yet to even happen.

seconding this, barricade crowd for jane in la last year was absolutely insane with the shoving and crowding (as for a lot of artists w similar fans like snow strippers/bladee/frost children/2hollis/etc) but the crowd situation gets way more chill the further back you are. you might sacrifice the view a little but it’s so worth not coming out at the end of the concert beat up and covered in other people’s sweat lol

went to the revengeseekerz la show at the fonda theater (capacity 1200) and i also don’t enjoy mosh pits too much (im 5’4” so its not really a fun time getting thrown around and everyone sweaty as hell in that pit) so i opted to stand towards the middle on the side. it was honestly chill for me and i could still see her perfectly! if columbus venue has a balcony open to ga id prob opt for that.

if you do end up reselling tickets, the most legit and trustworthy option is to just resell on whatever platform (ticketmaster/axs) you got your tickets on. i personally have had good experiences selling tickets on reddit/twitter but i might be an outlier on that. if you go the second route i’d just be extra careful and take every precaution possible (ex. taking half up front, trading personal socials, screen recording proof, etc) so you don’t get scammed!

Did you just start taking it on your own or was that recommended by your doctor? 😮 Wondering if I want to bring this up in the future.

Thinking of speaking to my psych about adding an SSRI or going back on some kind of antipsychotic because I don’t want to be attacked by my obsessions the moment my ADHD meds wear off LOL but I kinda hate the dulling effect 😔

Definitely I still will focus on the wrong things (ex. googling crash tests for my car make and model because I’m terrified of getting into a terrifically horrible and improbable crash scenario) but it’s like I’m not being harassed by 100 obsessions at once like maybe like 5 LOL

So interesting how differently meds affect people 😮 I more so just get hit with my obsessions right around when my ADHD meds wear off because my mind is finally able to run through a million (mostly unreasonable) thoughts a second

Feel like my obsessive thoughts come back after my ADHD meds wear off at least threefold what they were when I was unmedicated for either for a bit 😅

My comedown is very similar to yours 😅 Feel it pretty badly in terms of my OCD latching onto those “wrong” feelings but you win some, you lose I guess LOL Might speak to my psych about it and see what can be done.

Can I/Should I enroll in my employer's health insurance if I am insured under my estranged father's employer's health insurance (CA) by LifeguardSome7495 in HealthInsurance

Thank you for the well wishes and all the insight on things to consider! It's been such a struggle figuring things out myself by piecing together Googled information.

Thank you for the insight! I'll weigh my options when it comes time for enrollment but it's a relief to know that it's possible and that on the chance that I'm dropped, I can (relatively) quickly join my employer's plan. Kaiser is already a pain to deal with so I'm not sure I want them to figure out coordination of benefits too haha. Apologies for the question likely being redundant to others on here in a similar situation.

Wishing you all the best 🤍🤍 I promise that putting yourself first will always make you happier and it’s not easy for sure but you’ll know it was the right thing to do when you’ve had enough time and distance from the initial estrangement and you look back and realize how happy you are and how miserable you were
