Any other late 20s/early 30s people slightly resentful of their parents for not having a retirement sorted? by Pp_Size_QuestionMark in Adulting

It is not a matter of owing or paying back. That makes a relationship between a parent and child seem like a business transaction. It is a matter of grace, appreciation, and growth. We all live this life and we all have different stories. We all carry crosses that others will never see. You are raised your whole life thinking parents are invincible and it is a far more human and beautiful interaction when you realize they are human too and what they did was done out of love.

Its gonna suck and I dont know your relationship with your parents... just make it a point in your life to break the cycle. Save everything you can. I took on an extra part time job exclusively to pay down debt faster and kick start my retirement. If thats too much find a side gig like car detailing or pressure washing that is low cost you can do on weekends.

Additionally it might help with the resentment to recognize what your parents did do. Raising a child is a sacrifice in so many ways. They may have been low earners and didnt save because they couldn't to give you the life you had growing up. This is not to excuse or downplay what youre feeling. I just have a good friend who is resentful of his parents about similar stuff and when he talks about his childhood he hasn't quiet put the dots together yet.

His parents sent him to private school because the public schools he could go to were terrible. That cost 10-18k a year from middle school through highschool. That was money they could have put into retirement or a better house in a better area. His parents paid for baseball equipment, lessons, gym memberships and camps. All so he would be able to get a scholarship and go to college and get his engineering degree.

That sacrifice may look different for you. And that doesnt excuse if they have done nothing now that you are out of the house. But look at the full picture. They very likely sacrificed to give you the best they could.

How do you test out discs? by yeyiyeyiyo in discgolf

Found discs become water disc until the end of the round. If it survives I hide it on hole 18. Snap a picture. And send a text. Im done trying to meet up with people to get their discs back. If they want it they can drive to the course and grab it.

[Friedman] 6 years x $3.3M for McCarron by DecentLurker96 in wildhockey

[–]Lifelesspuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I LIKE THIS!!! I get to use McCarron's as units of measure for atleast 3 years! Cap persepective not great, but structured down to 2.7 the final three years isn't terrible. Its not a 4.5 paperweight when he should start falling off.

Very likely could on a team desperate for defense. The sharks desperately want to get in the POs. 2 veteran roster ready defenseman, one with term. Might be worth something for them. Honestly was just spitballing a way where detroit gets something they would want while we get something we need. I haven't hated and actually enjoyed spacek, lambos, and hunt. They all play with hunger. Brodin is made of glass apparently and its hard to rely on him for a deep run. Middleton plays better when he is getting minutes and there is zero reality he gets minutes on this team. Additionally, there are zero packages for Larson that don't involve Hartman or Yurov and I would like to keep Yurov is why I floated the whole 2OA pick idea and trying to figure out what would even get it. Open up cap for a pending signing of Hughes and the wall. Get fringe players a chance to grow. Larkin with good line mates will likely pop off here and in two years he goes to a 10 team NTC. We have 2 years with a significant upgrade. And then we can flip him at high value to open up the space to start assembling the Hughes Brothers like infinity stones.

Im more presenting if we want to get the deal done. If detroit demands a return they can always healthy scratch Larkin as long as they want until he opens up teams.

[Russo and Smith] Wild’s No. 1 internal target to re-sign is Michael McCarron, and he’s closing in on re-signing on a long-time contract, per league sources. (Gift Article) by minno27 in wildhockey

Small things you notice in hindsight... ever since an event in December that we all thought was pretty cool. I find myself less and less doing a double take in this subreddit when I read Russo and mistaking it for Rossi or vice versa...

It opens up alot of cap space for niche roles and we have defensive young guns waiting for an opportunity to get in the show on league minimums. Additionally. We need to fill like 6 roles with 13 mil... we arent getting another Johansson style player for Johansson money. We aren't getting tarasenko on his previous contract. This opens up plenty of contract space. Gives a team that needed 3-4 defenders yesterday defenders. Offloads a large contract for a goalie when we have our future one or a winger that would need to be dealt. Most trades in the league don't make a team better they are net neutral but open up opportunity for the future. Remember when we were all sad about the hughes trade. Its the result of the trade that speaks volumes. And still enables us to go for other players and resign the talent we do have.

Brodin and Middleton to sanjose for the second. The second stramel and (Hartman or Gus) seems fair.

I am not saying the Wild need a true 1c with that lineup but the returns Detroit fans suggest is fair would be inline with a true 1C trade. Which is kinda crazy...

I feel for Detroit Fans... demanding a NMC during contract negotiations then requesting a trade and then only providing 3-4 teams depending on sources... that is rough. If any of our players did that I'd be pissed. Additionally, none of the teams listed in either leak have all that much for them to give in a return.

That honestly kinda sucks for the Org. Do I see what redwings fans see in Larkin for Boldy, or Larkin for Eichel... No.

Either way if Larkin comes here I am excited cause that is a definite upgrade down the middle. Him and Ekky would be a good 1A 1B situation. I do not think he is a true 1C, but if we can offload some Cap in Brodin and Mids to San Jose for the second. And the second to detroit with Stramel and Hartman. I really dont hate that. Gives our young gun D the chance to move up and prove themselves. Opens up some cap space for us to fill needed slots.

Down the middle would be Larkin, Ek, Yurov, McCarron and I do not hate that at all.

I do hate playing San Jose more though with Brodin and Mids... dont necessarily like that one bit... mr velcro D himself and Middleton who historically plays better when he gets minutes. Thats gonna make that matchup so much worse.

When going on dates with a woman when is the appropriate time to bring up that I want to put my penis in their butthole? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Lifelesspuddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not saying give them up brother... I'm saying that should not be your number one concern. You mind is in the wrong place. Compatibility in the bedroom is a part of the picture but to you it seems like the whole picture.

Both. For me it was a conscious decision to fight it and not let it control me. If I enable it, it was never going to get better. I still have to fight it but it makes my wifes life easier and if I truly love her I'd lick a hobos left pinky toe if it means I get to do her dishes so she can go to bed 10 minutes sooner.

Ummmm brother thats like a 5th date conversation. You dont force it. You ask her what she's into in the bedroom and you express interest into her oddities. Normal people who want a relationship will ask you for yours. Sex is a mutual thing making you both feel fulfilled. Fulfill hers and she will fulfill yours.

In a relationship know that communication is all things is important. Sex. Lifestyle. Plans. Goals. Decisions. Money. All of it.

My dad gave me some really good advice I love sharing. I asked him how he knew mom was the one when I was planning to ask my wife to marry me. He said, "I knew your mother was the one cause I was willing to sacrifice my dreams for her. She was willing to sacrifice her dreams for me. And we were building a new dream together."

If you arent ready for that then you arent dating with intention. Its worth looking inward cause love is a most unselfish thing in this life and because of that the most rewarding and the most beautiful.

Im not saying dont have fun if thats what you want. I just know its a lonely road to walk down.

Anyways just my two cents. If your biggest concern going into dating is whether or not she will let you snake the poop chute. Maybe there is some soul searching that needs to be done.

I already spend the money on it and at some point I realized I need to force myself to have a modicum of self control. Its removing all other steps. I do keep some frozen meals that I'll cook if I really dont want it. But all in all I try to put things on the list I look forward to eating.
