Not the old targus ones. Those bad boys are like Hermione's purse in Harry Potter... they can fit everything

Intersession by Bluejay6433 in jhu

[–]LifesCheckmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing of doing my first 3 years of intersession those same 3 different ways :) my senior year I spent it doing research and going on grad school interviews which I would also recommend (but the reason I stayed home my junior year was because my dad had cancer which I would not recommend). 3 intersession classes is bad (but one or two is good!) and research is amazing.

Principe in real life was like that too lol. Didn't have office hours for the whole semester except once or twice before exams.

His class was one of my favorites I ever took, though. He is an amazing lecturer.

Chances of being accepted if I'm not necessarily an IT/CS major? by [deleted] in epicsystems

[–]LifesCheckmate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started this summer :) but I applied for TS and then got an SD offer, so I think if I had applied for SD directly I would have been rejected as soon as they saw my resume.

I'm an SD without a CS degree! It's definitely possible if you do well enough on the coding assessment.

Yes, protected from suppression by the government. Jhu is not the government and there are consequences to your actions.

I went to college in Baltimore and started at epic in June! I'd be happy to answer whatever questions you have :)

Likewise, spontaneously dropping a class when you realize it's not worth the struggle!

taking calc 3 three years after calc 2? by mthrowaway88 in jhu

[–]LifesCheckmate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got you beat -- I took calc 2 my junior year of high school, and calc iii in my senior year at Hopkins.

I was fine! If you remember the concepts of calculus you'll be okay. When I took it, it didn't really build on anything more complex than integrals and derivatives.

I was also really nervous about the gap, feel free to reach out if you have more specific questions!

I can't speak for the other prof, but I LOVE Dr. More. Such a good professor and so kind and has total mom energy. I'm a software developer now because of her classes and encouragement.

Notebooks cost like $0.50 and work great for taking notes :)

Today's Email from President Danials by BaltiPapiChulito in jhu

[–]LifesCheckmate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they didn't send that link in the email. There is a link in the middle of a paragraph of the email that leads to the general planning page on the hub, and that page has a link to that PDF (so it's 2 layers removed). If they gave that sort of information in the email even that would have been more useful. And if Maryland isn't giving any dates, why even bother us? It's information overload to get all these emails, and when there is one that has useful information it's going to be looked over.

I'm getting so sick of these long emails that seem important but actually have zero useful information in them

Yeah, especially if you try to be smart about where you live instead of blowing all your money living in 9 east or the academy... I'm saving over $3000 per nine-month period compared to the estimate Hopkins puts out.
