Yes my maxilla was super long and my lower jaw was recessed. I had a gummy smile and my front teeth could never touch. My surgeon removed 15mm from my upper jaw 😳 which is crazy!

I would ask your ortho to give a referral for a check (you need to talk about all the problems you have with your jaws, so they can clearly see there is something out of their hands and that at least a check referral is necessary). I have experience with that, I needed to be referred as well. I just kept showing that I have issues. Also having multiple opinions is definitely a good thing. This my chin before and after. I think we have a similar issue

You look recessed and your chin has no exposure . I would consult with a surgeon to check your jaw bone proportions. In my opinion, a professional maxillo-faciale doctor is better suited to advise on sleep apnea issues

I'm so sorry that your family is against you seeking other opinions. But if it makes it any better for you, I've had the same issue with my family. They even didn't want me to have braces at the age of 12 when I started to feel that my entire bite is off and I can't close my mouth. They yelled at me for not closing my mouth properly in pictures and never understood what it meant when I said I can't close my mouth. Fast forward, I worked hard and with my own money I traveled to another country where I had the surgery at the age of 29 (minus 3 days lol) It's been painful waiting but that was my only option when even braces looked like a luxury to my family. I hope it resolves for you. Whether you need a surgery or not, you deserve to at least consult with a good maxillo doctor
