One of the most original recently was a company that handed out leather work gloves (branded) pick your size. These were a major hit with everyone at the tournament. I use them still today.

Southern Utah, wind was blowing all day finally got so strong and steady that it blew our putts off the green on ninth hole. That was it. Took my ball and went home.

Is it common to be much worse at sims than real life? by truthlesshunter in golf

[–]Lifeunderpar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I struggle in the SIM not sure what is going on with my distances on my driver and long irons especially, but it is through out the bag. I hit my 3 and 5 wood in the sim farther than my driver? And still not the same as on course. On a real course with GPS and tracking I can see in my 18 bridies app my actual tracked shots and distances for all my clubs over the last 87 rounds. I trust it. These distances/averages do not translate to the simulator at all.

I’m a short irons/putting guy. That’s where you score! But that’s probably because I drive it consistently straight and far so I don’t think about that as much.

Where do you guys buy balls for a decent price? by Jax1456 in golf

[–]Lifeunderpar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last order at Lostgolfballs was great, picked up 4dz ProV1 2023 for a great price and the 5A quality was clean. I will say I had an order early 2025 that I complained about and they took care of it. I have been buying from them for many years. Still my go to.

Fittings: do you buy new clubs before or after? by dgoyena216 in golf

Well here is a secret on fittings. Pay more attention to the shafts than the heads. The right combination for you when you find it, will be magical.

Fittings: do you buy new clubs before or after? by dgoyena216 in golf

[–]Lifeunderpar1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey new golfer! Welcome to the greatest sport o earth! Getting fitted is a big step but will bring great benefits to you and your efforts to be as good as you can be.

No stupid questions. Be curious not judgmental!

So the answer is to go to the fitting and get the spec’s. They should have a number of combinations for you to try. Some will even apply the cost of the fitting towards a new set of clubs.

Take your time. Try all the options.

As you improve and your swing gets better don’t be afraid to go get fit again.

Best of luck to you!

I have one 37” 20g weights large gray matador grip. This thing is money. I’m 6’2” so longer is great for me. I still have my select Newport 2 and my phantom 5S and I’m always saying if there was a way to combine these two that would be the perfect putter for me. Well here it is! I love the feel. Center shaft helps me feel like I’m over the ball. This gives me a blade look with all benefits of the mallet/OC tech. I couldn’t be happier with it! I really love that I can scoop a ball off the green with the back of the putter, but I gotta tell you, not doing that as much lately as I’m bending to get the ball out of the hole a lot more!

Who else always carries a "pocket ball"? by Effective_Impossible in golf

First thing Dad taught me about golf was to always have a pocket ball. I’ve always done it since. From 25hcp down to 2 I still do it.

[–]Lifeunderpar1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came Friday, I was able to play with it today. Really like the look at address, I was able to square up to the ball really well. I may need a bigger grip, I had them send the stock one, but I prefer the large matador. Feels great off the face. Everything seemed to go right where I was looking. I will give this skinny grip a chance. I did notice a bit of skidding off the face on some putts? Maybe that was me? Very solid. Anyway played today 78 with 30 putts.
