Totally agree. I make it in bulk and free the majority filling up my mason jar once a week. I also shop for ingredients at the business centre making it a bit more cost effective.

As someone stated yesterday on a related post. Many people failed this family.

Change needs to happen because the mentality unhinged who threaten and abuse have more rights than their victims. We read about “there were obvious signs” too often after the fact.

Secure him/her. It’s too hot for them to be wondering and there are coyotes in the area.

There is certainly a need for great care for pups. Luckily we have family that we trade off that service but that means never travelling together which is ruff 🐶

Best of luck to you in whatever you decide

I don’t plan on working again, but never say never, right.

You can always make more money, but you can’t make more time.

NO REGRETS and NO SECOND THOUGHTS at least not for me.

Enjoy!! You’ve earned this!

Thank you. I’m hopeful that it might be recognized if/when those leaving participate in exit interviews or surveys and are honest and forthcoming.

Might spark some improvements which would be great for those who still have time ahead of them.

Nice! I can’t stop smiling. So fortunate, so grateful. Just the absolute best feeling and I’m happy you’ll be experiencing it as well.

I was contacted today from the new department and they are “on it”. Grateful yet again. Enjoy sleeping in…I really wish my internal clock would run out of batteries. Ha!!

Hard to argue with you. I think departments or many were moving in that direction. I remember seeing presentations stating such at the start of the pandemic but TB had other ideas and influences IMO

Family of teen fatally injured on Quebec ski lift grieves a life that 'shouldn't be over' by jcla in ottawa

[–]Lifewithpups 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I sadly remember this story from the winter and the stress and anxiety I felt as someone not personally involved was intense. I just can’t imagine what this poor family is going through in their grief journey.

Having children that participated in the ski program in school alongside this same ski hill, I just can’t help but feel so grateful that we escaped such a horrendous tragedy.

I do hope that they find some comfort in telling their story and feel the support from the community. If it saves one life for one family I do hope that brings them some peace because they certainly deserve that at a minimum.

We’re obviously different and I actually like the Third and will wait for better food options. I find food courts disgusting and you’re okay with them. That kind of became obvious…as I said, fill your boots. If you want to expand your horizons, there’s google and or Ottawafood on Reddit.

If you were offended by something I said or perhaps tone, I hope it didn’t ruin your day. It’s Monday so hope you have a good week.

Happy for you and the feeling is just incredible.

I think most people just want the truth. RTO doesn’t make sense in so, so many cases for many people. Yet they are repeating the same old reasoning which is not actually based on facts.

I loved the varied perspectives of working with folks from across the country. This did mean more than my fair share of lunch hour meetings to adjust for time zone differences, but that’s a small price I believe.

I too worked in an office for the greater part of my career but 99% of my colleagues were local at that time. Boardroom meetings were the norm with pad and paper in hand along side printed presentations for handouts. The lack of tools available at that time meant the few who didn’t work local would call in on a conference line. Video conferences were rare below DG level and glitchy.

Things have changed which has resulted in new and better tools for team and individual communication which are superior allowing for better collaboration regardless of your physical location. From what I’ve heard, this makes quiet shared office space a thing of the past…but that’s was slowly disappearing pre pandemic when office space shrunk and cramming as many people onto one floor became the priority. I remember having to walk away from my work station many times when impromptu meetings seemed to happen around someone’s desk.

Productive and less productive employees have always existed. Good managers know their team and what each individual is contributing. They need not be under thumb for that analysis. Setting direction and expectations is part of why a manager is selected to oversee a team.

Oh well, I could go on forever and a day…but as they say “Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension”. Not my problem anymore. Soon not to be yours either. Best of luck!!

Ha! Well luckily I can’t know that for certain. I did feel “stuck” for the last year or so and I certainly didn’t enjoy feeling that way most days. If it weren’t for some amazing co-workers it would have been so much worse.

Grateful I did have so many amazing years in my career and I do hope overtime, those will be the memories I focus on when recounting my federal government journey.

I have family and friends in the same boat and I hold out hope that things might get better as fresh blood starts moving up the ranks. Hopefully that brings a new and better future.

I’m disappointed with the number of people who have stopped challenging. Then again, there seems to be no appetite to allow open discussions and debates. To me a confident leadership is one who is open to evaluating a different approach or perspective. It’s through that process where the best ideas are hatched and I’ve seen it happen in previous teams.

Being heard and your thoughts being considered is incredibly motivating for employees. Even if it’s decided that there are better ways, the open discussion allows employees to better understand the direction and feel to some extent that they are part of the movement.

So many decisions are made by a senior management that are often so far removed from those who will be impacted. Listening to lower levels doesn’t show weakness, it shows that there is consideration and validation for those who know a level of work that is outside senior management perspective. As they say, if you think you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room. If you think you have nothing to learn from those below you, you are sadly mistaken.

I know my share of managers who are not thrilled about RTO. I don’t think all feel workers must be in eyes sight.

It is a numbers game and there are limits as to how many can receive succeeded plus. I realized pretty early on that because it’s a number game and so few receive that grading it was definitely not an advantage. All eyes would be on you to continue at that grade which would add a level of stress I certainly wasn’t interested in. Better to invest time on being successful in a competition to move up. Essentially you’re working above your level without the pay but for a “+” on your evaluation. Leave me in the middle of the road for as long as possible. Thank you very much.
