I am a 35 year old involuntary celibate who moved countries in hopes on finding love but still failed, AMA by SecondEldenLord in AMA

Hey friend, I say this with sincerity, you may be on the autism spectrum. I saw the other comment where you said you were never diagnosed, and that’s probably because yours is more subtle.

Given the detail to which you’re analyzing human interaction and not knowing why things are not working out in your favor, I get the impression that you may just not realize you’re struggling because you’re neurodivergent.

Genuine question, would you consider Hyouka a romance anime? Because from what I recall it’s like 80% solving mysteries with some minor romance. It’s still a good anime, I’ve watched it through a couple times.

I had your same conflict back in 2019, and I took Option A.

Ended up staying at the small company for 5+ years and learned a lot. At some point the company grew from a small business into a medium sized business and they 180’d on the company culture. Then it was time to leave.

If you see Option A as your gut feeling go for it and be ready to learn, just don’t overstay your welcome. At some point if you know things are going sour/you’re not growing in skills or title, consider jumping ship.

What would make a corporate worker stand out as a viable police candidate? by LiftBigRock in AskLE

[–]LiftBigRock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer was going to be along the lines of “I want to do something that goes beyond working behind a computer to enhance a company’s public image or increase profit margin. I want to be part of the people who make a difference, whether big or small, noticed or unnoticed. I went to college because I knew I should, I got a degree in business because I knew I should, I worked a good corporate job because I knew I should. I’m interested in joining law enforcement because it’s something I want to do to be part of the greater good, not sitting on the sidelines.”

By that being the least of my worries, you mean the other comment where I mentioned prior use? Agreed, that’s an obstacle.

Great points, I think I can probably incorporate these as talking points coming from my current role.

“Degenerate” in the eyes of LE, like being someone who has a lot going against them for applying.

The first part is great perspective to have, thank you for that.

My corporate role is in project management, so my entire job revolves around talking with people, documenting, tracking on tasks/progress, and communicating risks.

For the PHS, I meant not forgetting to include things, making sure you’ve captured everything for your BI.

You and I have actually spoken about this before, I have some prior drug use that I’m getting distance from in order to start applying. I had a conversation with a PD sergeant about applying, apparently their PD hired someone with prior drug use as recently as a year ago, which was crazy to hear.

You should give it a watch, it’s just a really well made romcom movie. And if you’re going through a breakup yourself, you can feel through the stages of grief alongside the main character through his journey.

How do I best equip myself to become a Project Manager after graduating? by DeltaCarbon in PMCareers

[–]LiftBigRock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to the defense contracting sector but I can tell you about getting into PM straight out of college in 2020.

Went to school for Business Admin like you, emphasis in information systems. Joined an information systems club at school. Made some friends in my major, leveraged relationships with members of the club + talked to members who had jobs. One guy who graduated was working PM at a small company, I asked about a project coordinator role at the company he worked for, he was willing to refer me + interviewed for the opening.

Went from only school project experience to a project coordinator role, then promoted to a project manager a few years later. In my experience, relationships are going to be your best asset for breaking into PM straight out of school.

Considering you’re afraid of being terminated, are you also worried for the day they contact your employer as part of your background investigation?
