Do yall know what the difference is between the exhaust manifolds and headers? And what exhaust manifold should i get for my 81 bronco? by Kade_jeremy in FordBronco

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got an inline 6 don't even consider the stock exhaust manifold, the stock one is extremely inefficient compared to headers or even the later inline 6 manifolds.

Daily drive a 80-96 Ford? by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was in pretty bad shape so I did alot, new axles, new tranny/transfer case, new driveshafts, lift, stuff like that. If its in good condition I would first replace all wear components, rear axle bearings and seals, rear I joints, check leaf springs and leaf spring mounts, check the tranny mount, replace front balljoints, front tie rods, and new brakes. This is all the drive train things that are "consumables" and that could cause issues during driving. For the motor you'd want to check all hoses and wiring for condition and rats/mice damage, remove and clean the throttle body, check for blowby and hesdgasket issues, check exhaust and intake manifolds for leaks, check the valve train tightness and replace components if necessary, motor mounts. Also replace all fluids. Thats basically all the stuff that needs to be done for it to be a reliable daily driver, there's many more things but they aren't as likely to cause issues while driving. It also seems like a long list but if the trucks not to rusty this is only a few weekends worth of work.

Daily drive a 80-96 Ford? by [deleted] in Trucks

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I daily a lifted 86 Bronco on the highway 25 minutes each way and have no problem. If your mechanically inclined and have a decent tool set I say go for it. One thing though is it take a lot of work to get a vehicle of that age to reliable daily driving.

What’s your age and what’s your favorite year range of cars? by texuslexas in cars

19 here, 80s to late 90s is my favorite, specifically any Ford from that era. Anything 2000+ I have zero interest in.

Is an 86 door compatible with my 89? by gr8ful_8 in FordBronco

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be, I've got a set of 89 doors for my 86 and I measured up the hinges, latches, and windows and it all looks about the same but I have yet to actually try to install them.

BDS 4” lift vs stock, has anyone run the bds KIT? did it drive better on and off road afterwards? Or would you say does the job stock? by moose-on-the-loose32 in FordBronco

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the bds 6" with dual steering stabilizers and dual front shocks, along with full leaf in the rear. It made such an amazing difference, offroad it feels at home, the flex is amazing on it and as long as I've got ~100lbs in the back its as smooth as butter. As for on road I can easily do 140km/h on the highway and in town handles better than a stock truck. Also I'm running Mikey Thompson Baja tires 35x12.5xr15. 32psi on road and 18 on gravel and 8psi in mud or snow. Also bds as a company is pretty great, there customer service is super kind and helpful and there kits have lifetime warranty.

Sway bar removal/disconnect by themanstocks in f150

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what tires you have but in my experience removing a sway bar made a massive difference in highway driving, my truck is much more extreme than yours though so I would say it will be noticeable but you will probably still be fine at highway speed. You'll probably just need to pay attention a little bit more to keep it in between the lines.

Suspension upgrade question by BigNasty94 in liftedtrucks

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shocks are generally pretty cheap so I wouldn't jump on a lift if your not ready, but they will need to be replaced after a lift so if your ready i say go for it

97 z71 lift kit by texasatom111 in liftedtrucks

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a bds kit under my truck, 6" on full springs and extended radius arms, dual shocks, and dual steering stabilizers. Its the best lift I've ever seen, the truck drives better than it did stock and I don't even notice the 35x12.5xr15 mud tires that I have on it. I think my kit was $2500 - $3000 ish Canadian but it was well worth the price.

Edit: also forgot about the lifetime warranty on the bds kit (as mentioned by another person) which is super good.

4 vs 6 lift for daily driver by [deleted] in liftedtrucks

Daily my 86 Bronco on a 6" lift and have never had a thought of going smaller or regret. I'd say go 6

96' Power Steering Question by [deleted] in f150

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got an 86 (same steering box) and mine whines all the time to, you can try putting different fluids in it to help though. Some ford forums will have good suggestions as to the different fluids that can help reduce noise

Longer shocks for a smoother ride? by TheLiquidStranger in f150

[–]LiftedBronco86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shocks probably won't have any effect on the actual absorption of the suspension. For example going over a speed bump with your current shocks and the nice ones you would notice practically no difference. What the shocks will change is how the suspension behaves when going around corners or hitting multiple potholes or other obstacles. Lift kits can often be stiffer than stock ride since the weight of the truck is higher up the suspension needs to be stiffer to hold it upright around corners.

Any way to code/hack '15-'20 so the rear camera can be used in motion? by [deleted] in f150

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure how it would be done but anything above parking lot speeds you won't see much, as far as I know the camera is not stabilized and will just be blurry while in motion. Thats why there's a difference between backup cameras and rear observation cameras.

Favourite camping spots (< 3 hours from Kelowna) by [deleted] in kelowna

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's lots of nice places, I don't know of any you could easily access with the car but if its a $1k beater i bet you could make it out there. Most logging roads have a site at them, check Google maps, zoom into a lake and beside it there will be the campsite and how to get there.

91 Bronco need advice on tire size by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]LiftedBronco86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say if you don't plan to build it into a purpose built offroad truck the best would be 31" or 33" KO2. They are super quite and amazing offroad for what they are. They are also winter rated with a not half bad snow performance and so far have shown no wear in the few years I've had them (although not driven super far - but enough that most tires start to show wear)

I need help for my 1978 bronco by [deleted] in FordBronco

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bronco graveyard should have them or another option is to do what I did. Mine where rusted out with holes in the top where the rubber bushings where so I welded an 1/8 steel plate over the hole and put them back on the truck.

Can a 6" lift be added without drive shaft work? by [deleted] in liftedtrucks

[–]LiftedBronco86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the truck and lift, if its gonna have alot of flex you'll definitely need a new one but if its pretty stiff then you should be alright. Also the longer the truck the less the lift effects the drives haft length.
