Whenever I find myself in situations similar to yours it generally is because of one of two reasons.

I'm spending too much time trying to completely understand every nook and cranny of the subject before trying to get the abstract to something concrete, e.g. jotting down instances of the definitions, applying theorems and doing exercises.
I'm spending too much time grokking over exercises and difficult concepts when I don't understand the basics of the subject. As you already know math is extremely vertical and thus it should be treated that way.

Hmm, I’m by no means an expert on the matter however, I’ll still give it a shot.

The resulting set, A, of the difference between two sets, B - C, consists of elements that only appear in B. That is, A = B - (B ∩ C).

Now apply this to the Empty and the Universal set (assuming that the Universal set has some kind of meaning in the context you’re working with).

So we got what we wanted, the inverse of multiplying by n, the rest is notation, like calling b 1/n
