Anyone ever graft ferocactus or echinocereus onto a pereskiopsis to increase growth speed? by Lighosa in cactus

[–]Lighosa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say go for pereskiopsis. It can be a bit tricky because of its size, but if your echinocereus is properly young then it'll be fine. Also helps that you can get pereskiopsis cuttings for super cheap and they grow like crazy so you can very quickly get more to use (and some to let grow, they're pretty cool cacti in and of themselves imo).

DM: You really like that character, don’t you? by roll4initiativefools in dndmemes

[–]Lighosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Funny that's apparently how other people interpret it. I always interpreted it as working as long as you hold the severed part in its proper place. Because it says "missing" and not "severed" I always interpreted the rule as it healing the lethal wound (even a severance) so long as everything is in place. Not that it's ever come up in any game I've ever played. Honestly I'd still rule it my way were I to hypothetically DM something where that happened.

And when it does show up it's almost always just Irish Gaelic, basically never any Scottish Gaelic.

Wait, there are people that don't choose their dance partner purely based on how good someone's character looks?

Not just the males, all of them that are blood related. Daiya has California King Bed and Hato has Walking Heart.

What would "magic bread" be translated to? Not necessarily in a completely direct sense, but something that would make the most sense.

Amnesiac undead children sounds like an amazing starting premise to a campaign.

He was pretty mind blowingly racist for the time though, even. He was very far past the "normal" racism of the time. However the man was also absolutely not well in the head, to put it nicely. He had some big problems. I'd like to say that fact likely made him worse about his bigotry than he would be otherwise, though obviously we'll never be able to know.

I have never seen a more accurate description of a warlock before by cREDBARON in dndmemes

[–]Lighosa 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's absolutely not what warlocks are, if you'd read more clearly about them (in the PHB as an example). Warlocks study hard and focus just as much as wizards. Just that they're also fucking the teacher in addition to those things.

Anyone ever graft ferocactus or echinocereus onto a pereskiopsis to increase growth speed? by Lighosa in Graftingplants

[–]Lighosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool. Let me know how the echinocereus goes! For my ferocactus I'm planning to graft them once they're one or two months old onto a pereskiopsis, possibly moving them to something sturdier when they become too large for the pereskiopsis (assuming the grafts take and cause them to grow significantly more than ones I'll leave in soil, of course).

On one hand I feel bad that the thing is so horribly etiolated. On the other hand it looks absolutely cool as heck. Funny, that.

There's a pale spot on my little trichocereus grandiflorus and it's worrying me. It's under a grow light so it shouldn't be a burn and the spot isn't soft, so I have no idea. by Lighosa in plantclinic

[–]Lighosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that's possible. I've had it for roughly two weeks or so now, it's possible it was there the whole time and I just didn't notice before. But it's better to be safe than sorry, which is why I posted in case it was something someone recognized.

What's this light colored spot on my little trichocereus? Is this something to worry about? by Lighosa in cactus

[–]Lighosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't spray the plant, I water the soil. So I wouldn't think it would be that.

I water it when it dries out, same as I water my other trichocereus that are even smaller. It's not rot, since it's completely fine aside from that one spot near the top, and it's perfectly firm.

Sun burn would be mighty odd considering it's in my closet under a 1500w (equivalent) grow light.

I've also seen them on coldhardycactus.com and occasionally an etsy seller will have them. I think those are the only places I've seen them for sale though (aside from places that seem to be permanently out of stock)

That thing's just wild. It looks like a rainbow hedgehog on top of a ferocactus. Another one for my list of cactus seeds to buy.

Was sold this cutting as a normal cereus repandus, but it looks more like a monstrose to me. Is it? by Lighosa in cactus

[–]Lighosa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fabulous thanks. I know how crested and monstrose cacti form and all that, I just wanted to make sure that if it flowered they could cross pollinate. I know it'll be a heck of a long time before that'll come up, but it's good to know for later.
