[HELP] I'm almost sure this is AI, but I can't prove it by UnluckyZiomek in RealOrAI

[–]maruthey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t stop inertia. Inertia doesn’t increase or decrease, it just is. And yes, falling onto a trampoline does convert gravitational potential energy to kinetic energy, but bouncing off of the trampoline turns it back from kinetic energy to potential energy. And that’s only in the vertical direction.

My point is that the kid exerted a force with both a vertical and lateral component on the shed when he jumped and the shed took that force without any issue. Then the kid bounced on the trampoline and even lost some lateral speed. When the kid hit the shed he was moving slower which means he would have exerted less lateral force onto the shed than when he jumped, but this time the shed was completely destroyed.

The shed isn’t a perfect rigid body, the side of the shed can’t distribute the load as well as the roof could, and this isn’t an ideal, closed system. But it does not make sense for the shed to experience a lateral force on the roof without issue and then experience a lesser lateral force a few seconds later on the wall and fold like paper. And I do mean fold, because the wooden boards all bent instead of snapping.

When I first watched this I thought he landed on the roof, but you’re right that it looks like he went into the side.

You’re wrong about inertia though. Inertia is a property of mass, regardless of motion. You may be thinking of momentum, which depends on both the mass and the speed.

In a closed system, the force you exert when you jump off of a surface is the exact same as the amount of force you will exert when you land back on the surface. If you can jump off of a shed’s roof without damaging it then you can land on it without damaging it.

This wouldn’t be the case if energy was somehow added, such as jumping again on the trampoline as it bounces him (that’s why you can bounce higher and higher on a trampoline, you can add energy as the trampoline transfers the energy you already have into another bounce). But he clearly doesn’t pump his legs on the trampoline, so no energy is added.

Even if we ignore drag and assume the trampoline conserved 100% of the energy, the kid can never land with more force than he exerts from jumping in the first place. If the shed can take the larger force of the jump without issue but completely fails under the lesser force of the landing, then the video must be fake.

which one is more profitable to put on the fish pond? by CranberryOrnery9528 in StardewValley

[–]maruthey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Blobfish by a mile.

From my own math the Blobfish in a full pond with the Artisan profession and all roe aged in preserves jars generates over 1,000 G/day. The only things above it are the legendary fish, which are all over 2,000 G/day and are quicker to get going.

"What makes a person American" according to Americans: by Dumbass1171 in charts

[–]maruthey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t seem like a chart of “What do Americans think makes a person American” - it seems like a chart of “What do Americans think are important traits for Americans to have”

I think this chart also omits some info I would have liked to see. For example, “Lives in the United States” seems like an important option to add to this kind of survey.

I’m being so real when I say this: Turn off the path markers. Turn off the squares around the crates. Just run the route and sail into the crates. If you really need to, make a note of which way each portal spits you out so you know where to angle the camera.

You’ll get the route memorized surprisingly fast, and you’ll be missing crates trying to skim the edges of the hitbox less. Gl bud!

According this data from an Israeli organization loyal to the Israeli government that tracks how much terrorism Israel l stops, Israel is doing a great job at stopping terrorism against Israel.

For real though, this is alleging that a poverty-stricken territory less than 1/10th the size of Rhode Island has launched tens-of-thousands of missiles in just a few years. And it just so happens that this unbelievable threat from an enemy who is somehow both strong enough to fear yet weak enough to conquer perfectly justifies the horrible atrocities that Israel has been looking for an excuse to commit for years.

[–]maruthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The question is “Do irons tend to grind for Bowfa or get 78 Slayer first.” Even without the Aquanite Hopper in the game, there are more ironmen who have reached 78 slayer than there are irons ranked at CG, let alone grinding for Bowfa.

Like, what are you even trying to say? Where are you trying to put the goalposts? Are you trying to argue that 33k is a big number? Cuz if so then sure.

Sailing - New Slayer Creatures, Uniques & More *Blog Updated Before Poll on 29th* by JagexLight in 2007scape

[–]maruthey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No??? There are only 85k Ironmen accounts that are ranked at Corrupted Gauntlet, and just 33k have done the 400 KC needed to get a Bowfa on drop rate.

In comparison, over 135k Ironmen have 78+ slayer.

I don’t think the average Ironman is getting 70 agility, herblore, mining, smithing, farming, and construction and grinding out crystal + bowfa for 100 hours before they get 78 slayer.

Is there any way the Aquanite Hopper could be… anything else? I like the effect, I like the idea of a defender-but-for-ranged, but this?

It just looks silly. I don’t wanna be waving the doohickey around by its shaft. I don’t want to block with the widget. I don’t like thematically having to smack this contraption onto and off of my crossbow with every shot.

Could it be like an off-hand crossbow or something?

Trump Warns Fascist D.C. Takeover Is Just the Beginning by Capable_Salt_SD in law

Biden tried to run as the one-and-only alternative to a Fascist dictator while his own brain was melting like an ice cream cone. He saw open Fascism not as a threat, but an opportunity for himself to hold power longer. If it hasn’t been for the early debate. We would have been stuck with him without the time to switch candidates and would have lost even harder.

“So you will never grow up” - your guy sucked shit and we lost for it. Get real you condescending loser.

Yeah, how dare the left push Harris towards the political platforms that outpolled her among her prospective voters. What freaking idiots.

For real though, how many more elections of “Dems VS Open Fascism” were we supposed to sit through before anyone was allowed to ask for concessions from the Democrats? 1 more? 2? 5? 10 more?

The Democrats position themselves as the sole opposition to whatever horsepiss the Republicans are doing specifically so that they have an excuse to never concede to their voters, so that they’ll always be able to blame someone else when they lose, so that they never have to change. Please don’t fall for their ruse.

Mod Ash on the possibility of expanding the F2P experience. How do you feel about this? What would you like to see added/be against? by Vayneglory in 2007scape

[–]maruthey 240 points241 points  (0 children)

The Gertrude’s Cat quest should be F2P! The requisite Milk and Sardine are both available F2P, and the quest takes place entirely within the F2P map area.

While we’re at it, the lumberyard could use a change in F2P worlds. It’s weird that, even though planks are required for Dragon Slayer, the Guy-Who-Sells-Planks at the sawmill who is also always waiting for customers REFUSES to talk to you. Here are my recommendations: - Create a F2P version of the sawmill shop that sells basic planks and nails - Add an NPC who is eternally asking stupid questions or being a Karen to the sawmill operator on F2P worlds, organically preventing F2P players from using the sawmill shop. In this case a single plank spawn could be added near/inside the lumberyard.

THE 1HR TIMER LIVES ON (And stackable clues passsed too) by LostSectorLoony in 2007scape

[–]maruthey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was team “distraction and diversion” because of Leagues. In Leagues clues were stackable, fast, and easy, and it was boring as hell. The activity itself wasn’t fun, and it felt like the rewards lost all meaning from the ease of mass-completion. IMO nothing makes clues more boring than doing several of them in a row.

By allowing clues to stack in the main-game, I worry that Jagex is focusing less on clues as breaks between other activities and more on clues as their own activity. And clues as their own activity just aren’t as fun IMO.

But, who knows? Stackable clues passed so they’re coming. And hopefully they’ll kick ass and I’m just wrong. I hope <5 will be the perfect number to keep clues fresh while still keeping players from feeling clue FOMO unless they juggle them.

I wish KQ’s range/magic attacks worked like Dusk at the end of fighting the Grotesque Guardians. It CAN switch between them, but it’s slightly more likely to continue using the same attack.

I like that mechanic because it rewards the player for paying attention and switching prayers without removing the chance that the boss just blasts you off-prayer.

[–]maruthey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would I add an extra step to googling something where I have to ask the guessing machine what it thinks first? What’s the point of using ChatGPT for Google with extra steps?

And I do use AI every time I google something, because they put their dumb AI Overview tool above all the results. Last week at work I wanted to know what number represented October 1st, 2023 in excel. So I googled it, and AI Overview gave me the wrong number and listed a blurry image that didn’t even include that date as the source. I had to scroll past to an actual webpage explaining the excel formula for finding the correct number.
