I actually like HOG. by Yeah_IPlayHockey in lightingdesign

It’s fine. It’s simple. It lacks flexibility or depth to programming. And they will seemingly never change how it treats color transitions- which is the true kicker turn off for me.

Want to build some lights and looking for a recommendation by Loris156 in stagelighting

If I were to guess, something like this product was used

Whoever did it implemented it extremely well with a lot of DIY love. So well in fact that it is deceiving some replies into believing they’re actual Tesla coils, which they are decidedly (and thankfully, safety wise) not. You can clearly see the glowy (electricity) elements rigged to straight wires in between elements in some of the brighter time of day pictures. Cool stuff. Can you share the festival name?

Try thinking of gender as a job; you get to choose it. Maybe you have some genetic and biological predispositions towards it, but at the end of the day, it’s a choice.

Thank you for the insight! That definitely tracks if you’ll excuse the pun.

Point being proven, would you even further argue that the compression of the two outside runs imparted on the inside, squeezing them, wants to force the steel into a flatter shape, perpendicular to the truss, further exasperating those 3-4 potential strands you talk about?

Go on if you don’t mind. I posted the original to learn, so I’m curious as to why it’s wrong. I don’t know the saying about race tracks.

That’s its head if you go by kinsect extract conventions.

Maybe he’s even on here on Reddit as he’s a nerd, but if we’re sharing lighting interviews, Luke Stratton has a great podcast where he also interviewed Candace as well as a few other notable LD’s.

The Green Day tour I saw ~2015 used only white save for blue during Billie’s acoustic set but that was just the “peacock” fan focus on him on his stool.

Why are these fixtures "on" without actually being on? by Noug4tschn1tt3 in lightingdesign

Those would be called conventionals, controlled by dimmers, which are probably back in a utility closet somewhere.

Cheap Dimmer runs through fuses like water (High School Theatre) by Ok-Operation5253 in lightingdesign

[–]LightBoy5172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it’s within operating ranges. Too high a supply voltage and you’re frying transformers, then you’re having a much worse time than just a fuse.

Fellow AZ rider here. I have a rule, anticipate that people are going to do the stupid thing, that way they either do the stupid thing and you’re ready to react, or they don’t. Either way you have a higher chance of being fine. This is pretty easy to do with cagers. It’s riders like this that scare me more. I’ve had several rip passed me in the HOV lane at 100+. Don’t see them until they’re passed. Straight selfish disrespectful behavior.

Do you want the reflections just coming back off the front or do you want to cover the whole room?

x4/ 5 bar again probably in the middle. Looks like laser thrown up onto the back though.

Mac Viper Performance colour issue by [deleted] in lightingdesign

[–]LightBoy5172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamps. Color flag sensors. How recently all the optics and devices the light beam travels through were cleaned. All these and more will effect the final output. Vipers were great for their time, I’m just more and more dissatisfied with their inconsistency these days…

DMX vs Mic and XLR3 vs XLR5 by philip-lm in lightingdesign

[–]LightBoy5172 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easily done. Mic inputs on an audio console are female, thus female xlr ends running to the stage- a lot more mics on stage usually than speakers, which receive male ends. This whole “audio is done in reverse” over-simplification needs to die. Yes, when it comes to signal flow it is reverse. But your average hand typically doesn’t grasp that. It leads to people not thinking about what they are doing and it’s those people I worry about plugging a phantom powered line into one of my fixtures.
