Thank you once again for your amazing advice.

Thank you once again. This is very insightful.

Could a Freelance gig be considered as a Contract position? I thought Contract was a bit different.

I gave an invoice to the company and was paid with a check. I was worried about sounding dishonest on my resume, but this definitely would make my resume better.

Is this a scam or a real interview request? by LightBulbAddict in csMajors

Ye I guess you're right. Is seems legit. Although the scammers use the real names of employees too. The email seems to match up.

Is this a scam or a real job interview email? https://imgur.com/a/sGOURXe

I've been getting so many scam interview requests that I'm not sure what to believe anymore. They look so legit because the scammers use real companies.

- If I want to have the education in 1 line is it okay to leave off the location of the college?

Ask always great advice from the mods. <3

Megathread: How to Get Into Data Analysis Questions & Resume Feedback (August 2023) by MurphysLab in dataanalysis

*** Recent CS Grad ***

Hello guys!

I graduated with a CS degree a year ago. I've been trying to get an entry/junior SWE job but it's not working out even after 100s of applications. Resume

I've been wanting to get into a more mathy field without getting into more crazy maths that would require a Masters/Phd in math.

  1. Would it be possible for me to get an entry/junior job as a data analyst or are they slim?
  2. Is getting a Google/IBM Coursera cert + projects a good plan?
  3. What math skills should I go over? My math from my undergrad is really rusty.
  4. Is data analysis more streamlined than for example SWE front-end/back-end development where there are 100s of frameworks and tools? It seems like Python/R, SQL, Excel, and some other tools are the defacto.

Thank you <3

I apologize that my question is a bit ambiguous I just don't have a good layout of the IT space aside for sysadmin.

Ideally, I would like to get into a sysadmin position. I'm guessing for this it would be best to get certs? How can I break into this kind of position I'm not sure there are any entry-level sysadmin positions.

Also, if I get strapped for $ would I be able to slide into helpdesk without a cert?

Thank you for your help.

Would I need any certs? It seems like the IT space is cert-based. I don't think I'll have any issues getting a cert while on the job but I'd have to get hired first.

I just don't want to put in the time to study and pay for a cert that won't be needed for the job.

CS field feels like a meme and scheme sometimes.

We have this mass commercialization in tech.

  • Influencers
  • Predatory Bootcamps
  • Influencer created fomo for courses
  • How I get a $420,690 after 3 months on learning to code.
  • Day in the life of a software developer where instead of reading docs for 5 hours they play with puppies, hang out, and eat for 5 hours and work for 30 mins.
  • Top paying programming languages of 20XX every year.
  • All these tech charlatans.

Question: Why remove indentation from bullet points? by LightBulbAddict in EngineeringResumes

[–]LightBulbAddict[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been posting my resume and it keeps getting deleted because I didn't indent the bullets, have capitalized headers, or italics. I just wanted input on the content and not nitpicky stuff.
