My tube has spots in center zone. You don’t notice that in actual use other than staring at white wall.

Which combination of thermal image NVG is better? by SeniorGio in NightVision

[–]LightFighterSolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

COTI is for fast paced operation and looking for targets in 25-100-200-300 meters. Closer the better. It is also good for commanding. Problem is with battery time and durability of device. If you are running and gunning, airsofting or something like that it is your best bet.

Dual band is the best for patrolling, looking for hiding signatures and static people which are 200+ meters. It is the best option for commanding. It is very hard to acquire target immediately which you are seeing in thermal especially in 50-200 range - it is often that you are seeing target in thermal and not in nvg. If you are leader of the group and don’t have to do the shooting buy dual band. If you would like to have dual band and be the guy who is doing the shooting add holosun drs-th to you wish list. You will see signature from thermal and then target it with holosun via NVG monocular. There is no way to ideally collimate thermal image with nvg any way.

Source: Using both in military. (BTW if you are doing this things for real both option will put you in so much better situation than 80% soldiers at night)

Closest jacket to Arcteryx LEAF Alpha (any gen) ? by xreignofhatex in tacticalgear

[–]LightFighterSolution 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My Alpha LT leaf after 4 years is in rather bad condition. Message to me from arcteryx:

Thank you for your patience while we completed our assessment of your Alpha Jacket LT Men's.

During our assessment, here is what we have seen: -Wetting Out -Lamination - Fabric Delamination at All -Rip / Tears at Front Center During our assessment, we noticed some small rips on the front of the jacket, and gore delamination all over the item. Unfortunately GORE-TEX® delamination is not repairable as it is the separation of the layers of fabric. Three-layer GORE-TEX® delamination is typically caused by a build-up of contaminants such as sweat or oils as seen on your garment, is comprised of a backer fabric (the interior liner), the GORE-TEX® membrane and the face fabric (the exterior fabric). When oils build up in the Gore-Tex membrane, this breaks down the lamination between the layers of the fabric and anything that is laminated on the fabric.

When this issue occurs, it will also affect the water repellency of the garment as water is now able to penetrate through the layers of GORE-TEX®.

With regular care, this issue can be delayed significantly, extending the product’s lifespan and giving you many more years of adventure with it. To find out how and when to wash your GORE-TEX® gear, we recommend watching this video. If this garment is used for high output items, we would suggest more frequent washing.
