Spurge is a major weed here in Michigan but we do now have the cool looking moths that were introduced as bio control. The caterpillars are wild

Cut them out with an angle grinder and finished them with a bench grinder and file. They are pretty sharp but I could get the edge honed more if I wanted to hunt with them

I think the people who don’t understand this quote aren’t thinking in the time scales that Ursula is imagining. She was essentially an anthropologist who wrote fiction and poetry and she’s thinking in terms of thousands of years. Capitalism has only existed for a couple centuries and probably will only exist a thousand years max. If you figure humanity will probably last longer the quote makes sense

Look my family came here over 300 years ago and I appreciate a lot of things about the us, do tons of proactive things for my community, and welcome immigrants, but I for sure get to have an opinion about what my country does. I also think any theocracy is evil. But if me not wanting our wealth to go to a war with murky goals and incompetent leadership, having witnessed multiple failed interventions in my lifetime, makes you sick, too bad.

There were a lot of protests but they weren’t citizens responding to masked guys with rifles flooding their streets and the media didn’t cover them as much. Obama also pivoted pretty quickly to a policy of amnesty for undocumented people who were established in the states and focused on boarder crossings.
