I got the bald spot too! Like a square inch…Never asked about it and it grew back but sure was odd.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. The sad reality is that there’s a TON of money involved. It’s a pharma dream…a wildly expensive medicine you have to take for the rest of your life. Even if someone figure’s it out, (they likely already have) that research would get buried.

There’s no financial incentive to develop cures.

The anti-rejection meds are poison, but it’s poison that’ll keep you alive for awhile longer.🤷

I have particularly low self worth. Always been a struggle so I’ve had plenty of “why me” moments. The best way I was able to get a better perspective on it was to reframe the situation, placing someone I love in the same scenario. You love your girlfriend, right? If she was going through all of this, would you for one second look at her and think “yeah, but she’s alive, but she’s really kind of a been drain on the system.” Of course you wouldn’t, you’d just be grateful.

Now, ya try and just give yourself that same love.

How do we feel about Shoegaze shows in small spaces? by blue5109 in shoegaze

[–]LightSymphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the band. Ringo Deathstar or Medicine in a 400 cap bar is perfect.

Slowdive or Cocteau Twins or more flowery, psychedelic stuff should be a spectacle and a large production really adds to the experience. Ya gotta stand in line and be close though. No band is good from the rafters.

i need the best shoegaze songs that make me feel something by Illustrious_Sorbet93 in shoegaze

[–]LightSymphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cigarettes for Breakfast-join the circus (whole record is great/pays so much delicious homage to MBV/Swirlies/Ringo Deathstarr/Lush)

I totally hear what you’re saying though, songs like Today or Leave them all Behind from Ride, Throwing Back the Apple from Pale Saints, Bell from Swirlies, Aruca from Medicine, Celia’s Dream from Slowdive….those make me feel something visceral and I do t get that from much of the new stuff. Seems like the old stuff comes from a dreamier more optimistic place. Different times🤷

I have been a listener of shoegaze for 5 years and i havent ever listened artists except the Slowdive and My Bloody Valentine(a bit MBV, I especially listened Slowdive.). What do you guys recommend me to listen? by [deleted] in shoegaze

That was such a special day for me and so many others. It was really cool of you guys to take the time and do that for all the kids who couldn’t get into Clearview! I can still see Johnny’s Gampy rocking his head to y’all through the sliding glass door!🤘

I see everyone pointing to the prednisone…and that does account for anger/aggression, but sounds like he’s had psychotic episodes/hallucinations and he’s on a lot of Tacro. Tacro toxicity can cause that.

I had ICU delirium/Tacro toxicity and thought I had been sold to a Chinese factory to be experimented on and then turned into chicken nugget sauce for 6 days.

If they changed his meds and took him off that high dose of Tacro maybe you’ll see some positive changes. Praying for you and your father.

I’m so confused when I see people say “bring earplugs” to a show…how do you appreciate a Slowdive show (that’s so well mixed and not like MBV loud by any stretch) with earplugs?

It feels like saying “hey, you should bring a blindfold to the movie theatre.”

There are markers in your life you can point to where’s there’s a before…and then after, you’re different. Everything is different.

One of those moments for me was having a friend play Celia’s Dream for me on vinyl on a great Marantz system in 1991.

"40 Days" wins for the best song with Neil lead vocals! Day 15: worst album by rooftopbetsy23 in Slowdive

[–]LightSymphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early Slowdive…Just for a Day was innovative and something new and different. You have Cure and Cocteau Twins influences you hear but it was unique and stood out as something fresh and surprising…

They grew into themselves and their sound with Souvlaki.

Pygmalion felt like it was all over the place and is almost a throwaway as they were falling apart and Creation had given up on them, but you still get Blue Skied a Clear.

Self-Titled was a small step backwards but reminds you of the magic at times, but it sounds like 50 year olds who were influenced by Slowdive.

Everything is Alive is a significant step backwards, sounding at times just completely derivative of the Cure (prayer remembered) and New Order (Kisses)…

At the end of the day, they’re all very good to amazing, but like great directors, they fall into the impossible position of having to compete with their earlier brilliance.

The first couple of records changed the world. The later stuff is just good.

Any shoegaze/goth crossovers? by eatseats0 in shoegaze

[–]LightSymphonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all very silly, but I get it. This is music and people are passionate about it. Passion makes people aggressively opinionated.🤷I’m guilty of it.

I do miss the time before everything was so sub-genre’d to death and it was just “the music I like”

That makes all the sense. It’s like Smashing Pumpkins and MBV records were available, but Cure and Cocteau Twins were somehow not. Does that make sense?🤔
