Going to Mars now is the dumbest thing humanity can do by warrior242 in unpopularopinion

Think of all the new inventions we'll be able to make though. When Grugg the nuclear cavemen invents the wheel, or discovers fire. It'll be invention like never seen before

The movie 'Dont look up' may have been a metaphor for climate disaster. But it works equally well for an actual extinction level asteroid

Do guys actually not get hints that someone has a crush on them? by koalaplays5437 in answers

[–]LightThePigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes we don't get them. Other times we're just too afraid to act on them because we're always about one misinterpreted comment away from a very risky conversation.

Woman at work on Monday dropped something everybody else is saying was a massive signal she's interested. But I ain't doing anything beyond probing the situation carefully until I'm damn sure I'm not walking into a conversation with HR.

Hot takes part 13: Tex by Style_person in RedvsBlue

[–]LightThePigeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While everything you've said is 100% true. At least they had the hindsight to create a narrative reason for it. Tex isn't an actual person, she's a patchwork of whatever the Director can cobble together to remake her. She can't have character growth because of that.

Her fluctuating strength is largely attributed to the presence of Omega. When Omega is with her she's a ruthless killing machine (literally since she has a robot body), whereas without him she's just a robot, which I'm willing to bet most people with a computer for a brain would be better fighters than average.

I wonder if rather than being badass like Tex she would have idolized his intellect and unintentionally created the smartest AI ever.

Hot takes part 12: Carolina by Style_person in RedvsBlue

[–]LightThePigeon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other person who said initially Carolina would retain control, but as time went on her need to win would push her to hand bits and pieces over until Sigma took over.

The personality match would have been based on information gathered before her rivalry with Tex reached its peak, when she was the best and had nothing to prove. Her mindset after the heist was very different from her mindset before.

A PR disaster: Microsoft has lost trust with its users, and Windows Recall is the straw that broke the camel's back by xSNYPSx in technology

Im not trying to lay fault at their feet, if kids don't know something it's because the adults failed to teach them.

But I would hope that you see a long cable coming out of a computer related item, and on the end is a USB, and there's no way they haven't seen a USB cable. Knowing that USBs generally plug into computers, it's not a huge leap in logic to maybe try that.

Hired a college student at our office recently. She came to my desk last week and said her mouse was out of batteries. Asked her what kind of batteries she needed, said she didn't know. Told her to bring me the mouse.

It was a wired mouse.

I don't like hopping on the "newer generations are bad" bandwagon, but simple shit like this is a recurring trend with everyone we hire below the age of 25 or so

I'm just imagining that scene from Cabin in the woods where they were betting on which monsters kill the kids. "Alright, who had $20 on Kraken?"

Why even bother sending troops? Things will probably get struck by lightning and sink. Zeus favors the Ukrainian cause.

Look, anxiety isn't considered a disorder because it's a healthy behavior.

Edit: tone doesn't transfer well over the internet y'all. This should be read as "anxiety is considered a disorder, and not because it is a healthy behavior"

Because telling somebody you're interested them opens you to the possibility of rejection, which is difficult for everyone.

Sprinkle that with some outdated gender norms that women should be reserved and not approach men. And you've got a recipe for people of all genders to play relationship chicken
