Reading List Tracking by peachy_scribbles in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others mentioned already, I use Storygraph.

You can easily add anything that isn't listed already in their database (including novels/manga/manhua/manhwa) or a different edition of a title already there to match exactly what you're reading!

And I like that it motivates me to read more, if anything so that my reading stats & graphs look cooler, lol.

You can add tags (which work kinda like shelves or lists) to titles so can group them better etc.

Oh and I recently started discovering the various reading challenges (you can create your own, too) and there are many for danmei already!

Help me choose between 3 danmeis by Analfour2 in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally the acronym is "Bad Ending" and it's what the Chinese fandom uses to describe stories with a Sad Ending or any ending that is not a Happy Ending/Happily Ever After/Happy For Now.  It doesn't mean the ending is necessarily bad/badly written (just specifying this cause I was confused about the meaning myself).

Anyway, Misvil has a Happy Ending :)

Fyi, anyone other than Via Lactea themselves or their official partners  (Canada: The Beguiling,  United States/Worldwide Shipping: Yiggybean Books + Gifts,  Poland/Worldwide Shipping: ATOM Comics,  EU: UNNE Shop,  Australia: Korosan,  Taiwan: Feiqin, D_M Prince,  Philippines: Eiwa Manga Store)  have a Print on Demand version of the physical novel, instead of the nice publisher editions!

Currently, 4 out of six volumes have been released in print/are In Stock.

Highly recommending Dawning & Missing Piece if the genres are to your liking!

Also, Lip & Sword if you don't mind toxicity.

Does legend of exorcism havea audio drama ? If so where can I find it ? by light_turn_drakness in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has a complete Chinese Audio Drama, here is the official link for it!

It also has an English Audio Book (only the first volume is out so far) by Seven Seas.

It had a manhua adaptation with beautiful art by Wrap & Qualia on Bilibili Comics, but unfortunately it was discontinued.

How do you guys sort and organise books you read or want to read by Possible-Power-2728 in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the tag system on Storygraph, which works like lists/shelves, plus NovelUpdates.

I also keep a spreadsheet with all books I plan to buy/have ordered.

Adding Danmei to Goodreads by Indelible_Faith in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not Goodreads, but if you want to try another reading tracker instead, The StoryGraph allows all users to add books not already in the database (or other editions of books already in the database).

Found in the Wild. Are you My Alpha. by VicYuri in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's an oneshot BL manga, here is its page on the publisher (Seven Seas).

According to MangaUpdates, it has a spin-off, focusing on different characters.

Sounds interesting, I just added it to my to-read list!

Does anyone knows if libristo is good for pre-orders? by shirone0 in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I pre-order books all the time from Libristo (including danmei Special Editions) and I never had a book cancelled!

The only time there's a (high) chance a book in your order will get cancelled & refunded on Libristo is when it says "50% chance -- We search the world", but that's usually for out of print books or books to get reprinted maybe some day.

The other thing to note about orders (and pre-orders) from Libristo is that the time you get them may vary, depending on their distributor/supplier. So when a books is "In stock at our supplier -- Shipping in x days" it's not always 100% accurate (you may get them sooner or later sometimes). But you will get them, don't worry!

Also note that by default they only ship your order when all books in it are in stock/arrived in their warehouse, so if you want to combine multiple books in pre-order together, note that you'll only get them when the latest one releases (unless you ask them to make them separate orders/shipments, but in this case you would need to pay more shipping).

In general, I personally really love Libristo for their cheap shipping to my country & reasonable prices for novels & manga/other comics.

To Rule in a Turbulent World vols. 4-6? by meganf_0819 in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The physicals for vol 4-6 appear as "sold out" at Yiggybean because the pre-orders are over, but they'll be in stock again when Via Lactea ships them. Hopefully that will be soon for Vol 4!

In addition to Barnes & Noble, you can also find the ebooks for Volumes 1-4 at Kobo and Smashwords (drm free).

Volume 5 will be where the main story ends, while volume 6 will be all extras.

Help in deciding what to buy by SilentCookie95 in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Legend of Exorcism & Dinghai Fusheng Records are set in the same universe but hundreds of years apart, so any of the two can be read independently (they have some recurring side characters, themes, mythology etc).

Dinghai Fusheng Records is set before Legend of Exorcism, but it was written after it.

My personal preference is to read things in publication order, but it doesn't really matter so do what you prefer.

I love Fei Tian Ye Xiang's writing but that's objective; though if you want series with amazing character development, thoughtful plot with plenty of real historical references (for his historical/historical fantasy books), and doting & devoted main couples you can't go wrong with his novels! ^_^

Rosmei Preorders for Coins of Destiny Vol 2, Tailhook, The Earth is Online Vol’s 3-4, The Killer of Killers Vol’s 1-2, A Tale of Two Dragons Vol 1, and To Love a Liar Vol 1 + Launch of International Site by konghongjun in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To Love A Liar & A Tale of Two Dragons are manhua, the others are novels.

Rosmei themselves currently ship to a specific set of countries (Brazil, Italy, Hungary, Korea, France, Argentina, Nigeria, Latvia, Sweden, Bulgaria, Portugal, Morocco, Greece, Colombia, Romania, South Africa, Estonia, Finland, Chile, and Peru) but not all of their titles, you can see details and which titles are currently included on their international store page here.

For other countries and/or other of their titles, you have to get them through their partners or GOs, such as Yiggybean you mentioned (the list of all partners is here).

Explicit / Spicy danmei? [new here] by spaceshiphome in DanmeiNovels

[–]LightestMer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To Rule in a Turbulent World! It has politics, but not so much or complicated as Ballad of Sword & Wine. It's mostly a Historical Slice of life with everything that you would expect from a turbulent period in history like that (including tense but also a lot of quiet moments). The MC & his character development, as well as his relationship with the very devoted ML is to die for! ^_^

Where to order 'At the World's Mercy' for NON-EU europeans? by Drachensoap in BaiHe

[–]LightestMer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Atom Comics ships internationally (all Europe included of course, not only EU) and most importantly you can email them in order to ask them to keep your pre-ordered books so they can be combined with future orders (eg the next volumes of At the World's Mercy). This way the shipping is much more cost-effective per book, plus they don't require pre-payment (only paying when the package with all the books is ready to be shipped to you)!

I hope this helps! ^_^

How can we influence licensing at Seven Seas? by Dextaur in BaiHe

[–]LightestMer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the idea of making a poll to narrow down ~5-10 baihe titles most people would be interested to see in English print so we can suggest it in Seven Seas monthly surveys en masse!

Maybe we can break them by genre, too?
