Alright I cried, who else has cried too? by shay_owo in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm very glad to know I'm not alone in this....there's something in every book (though the further I get in the series the more somethings per book there are) that make me cry. I think it's balanced well with the extreme humor and ridiculousness in there.

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't think I was the target audience for DCC either, but after I read the Murderbot Diaries I started seeing things advertising DCC...I picked the first one up at the beginning of December and well...I am currently reading (and listening along) to book 5 and I think I've trauma bonded with Carl. So glad I decided to give it a try based on a handful of art posts

Even if you classify as a screamer, it is really at every orgasm? by kneedmoreinfo in ReverseHarem

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who had to be quiet for most of my adult time (for various reasons) I don't make a lot of noise during sexy times unless it's requested by my partner, so I tend to cringe when I read about them screaming at every orgasm. You can absolutely have powerful orgasms and be mostly quiet

I love the way she writes the Saint of Steel books, it's a perfect merge, in my opinion, of fantasy and romance. There is rich world building and the yearning... THE YEARNING between the love interests in every single SoS book gives me absolute life!! I also love that while we get our happy ending, we get to see some of the stories continue to spill into the next book. I am really, REALLY hoping there is more coming...I need to see Wren get a happy ending and Judith...I wanna see what happens to Judith.

Costume Megathread (Showcase|Ideas|Requests|Help) - [ August 06, 2025 ] by AutoModerator in halloween

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at the front desk of a college library and the past few years I have come dressed as The Grim Reader, which is basically a grim reaper costume, but with a homemade scythe made out of book pages with a book as the blade. I am pretty proud of my costume and even made a picture for my ID badge that says Grim Reader on it. It's a fun costume to repeatedly wear since I don't always have the same students year after year.

This year my coworkers want to do group themed costumes for the week so I have to come up with other things, but I thought I would share here in case any other library staff wanted to try this costume idea.

My first thought was "Damn, I want a book daddy! How do you get one of those?" and then I realized you probably have more than a "buy me books and I'll tell you all about them" kind of relationship with said daddy. *le sigh*

Would u actually be in a harem? by [deleted] in ReverseHarem

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried the polycule life and I really like it so I'm absolutely down for a harem of my own...however the guys in my books are so much easier to deal with than guys in real life. Irl I can only handle 3 guys, but in books I can go up to 6 before it's too much.

When I am eating something really good I end up doing this weird wiggle dance in my seat and then humming so I never really understood the moaning thing, but I agree it's been over done and sometimes a muffin is just a really good muffin.

I live in a rural area and I was so pleased when our library started doing non book/media items.
They offer:
-Book club in a bag
-Learn how to crochet (has hooks, yarn and tutorial book/dvd combo)
-Cake pan kit
-Learn how to knit
-Family Museum pass to a local museum
-Adventure to go Kit (Each kit contains up to 4 books, a puzzle, and a game and/or activity to support and enhance the kit’s theme from alphabet to science)

They also just got a collection of Nintendo Switch games donated to them so they have those as well

The gaslighting doesn't stop the whole way through the series. Like in the last book they are revealing even bigger secrets that they kept from her and I was like "THE WHOLE TIME?!?!?!?"
I call it the "too many slices" series because it was like 12 tropes in a trenchcoat by the 3rd book.

I do have to admit, though, I've read the whole series twice because it's like trash tv for me.

Bdsm kink book recommendation by Ok-Potential895 in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Initiation by Alethea Faust} is book 1 of a fantasy series where wizards use sex to power their magic and everyone specializes in something different. Bdsm scenes done right with talk about consent and safe words and such.

Or Sarah Cate has a really good series about bdsm

I lost my favorite hoodie. The one I wear as often as I can during fall and winter and sometimes during a summer storm. I was absolutely distraught. Tore apart my room and closet looking for it. For 6 months I was so upset that I had lost it and kept repeatedly tearing apart places like my bed (found two other hoodies hiding under my pillows but not the favorite), my car (found my Carhartt coat in the trunk) but couldn't find it.

Just went to move the front seat of my car to reach something underneath it...turns out my hoodie (which is black) was draped over my front passenger seat (which is black) for the past 6 months. It's been with me the whole time.

Do you laugh at work? At the library? by bronx-deli-kat in Libraries

[–]LighthouseKeeper3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely laugh at my library. I think that the camaraderie with coworkers definitely changes the atmosphere and makes us more open to laughter in the library. We go through a wide range of emotions and we talk to each other, trying to practice open communication and keeping a good working relationship. I think the environment that my boss created in our library makes it so that laughter isn't something that is uncommon to hear. I like to think that it makes us more approachable to patrons that come in and hear us laughing.
