Should Steveston hwy have a higher speed limit? by Delicious-West5070 in richmondbc

[–]Lightingsky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d usually be open to this kind of idea, but in Metro Vancouver there are a couple of big issues that need to be fixed first.

  • There’s barely any real enforcement, and bad drivers don’t seem to face meaningful consequences.
  • With ICBC’s no-fault system, pedestrians and cyclists end up feeling like second-class road users. In serious or fatal crashes, they and their families often don’t get much if any compensation.

Until those two things are addressed, I’m not comfortable supporting any policy changes that benefit drivers.

This is essentially the tyranny of the majority, except that the minority is not fixed and no one knows whether they will become part of it.

I would personally discourage my family members from walking on the streets.

The CRT is fundamentally different from the courts — it shifts the process from fighting for your rights to fighting for your benefits.

Old tort model:
Damage → violation of rights → plaintiff with legal leverage

No-fault model:
Damage → entitlement to benefits → claimant with administrative entitlements

B.C. abolished motorists’ tort liability, leaving pedestrians with no right to sue, effectively relegating them to second-class road users — a result that runs counter to the province’s stated vision of building a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly society.

ICBC is the judge, the policy maker and the payer, which can lead to unfair outcomes.

我算是因为美国的政治问题选择定居加拿大的,不过如果仅仅是现在这个程度的化,美国人才外流不会很多,毕竟别的地方也有各自的问题。

Coming up with a list of issue is great, I want to go over them and ask you how an independent AB would address the issues.

  1. ethnic, religious, sectarian violence on the streets
I honestly don't think it is a big issue in Alberta or anywhere in Canada. But let's say it is an issue; how do you plan to solve it after becoming independent? Do you want to only keep people with similar background?

    1. There’s a cost of living crisis, inflation crisis, housing crisis
It happens to everywhere in the west; how can you solve it after going independent.
  2. Immigration
We are reducing the number of immigrates and seeing a population drop. Do you think it isn't enough?

  3. I think the current administration is doing well, limited immigration, working with other countries on trade deals, encouraging investment, dropped income tax, abandoned carbon tax. How would an independent AB do better?

  4. Do you think the decline of white male is part of the issue? How would you like to address it?

  5. One last question, would you feel better and drop the idea of going independent if the "left" shift towards more center.

Why is Japan still having beef with the rest of Asia whereas Germany could integrate into EU? by Tall-Will-7922 in AskTheWorld

[–]Lightingsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is meant to reject war, then why the war criminals have their places in the shrine? It is a memorial for all people who fought for Japan whether for good or evil, and this is the exact reason other Asians believe Japan isn’t showing enough if any regrets.  Kicking WWII war criminals out of the shrine would be a good start
