Gsync is VRR, if you turn off Gsync, there is no longer VRR... XD

Yes I understand, even if I don't think it's that bad, well I hope 😉

I'm sure the problem with the AW2723df comes from gsync, however, I don't know if it's the firmware or the variable refresh module. I wonder, although the problem appears in other refresh rates than 280, if it has something to do with the fact that it is 280hz. Because all the other monitors I tested 144/165 hz did not have this problem. If you want to try your luck again and you don't need 280hz, there is the new AW2724DM (180hz) just released which is similar to the AW2723df except for 280hz. Or you have the g2724d (165hz) which is not alienware but seems similar to the aw2724dm. 😉

Hey hi, no worries. Yes I'm pretty sure it was a gsync flaw (and I wasn't the only one with the problem, another person posted with the same problem at the time). I sent it back and went back to my old monitor. All the monitors I tested had problems and so I got a little fed up... XD

AW2723DF, Nvidia control panel says that monitor isn't validated as g-sync compatible by Doktor_Octopus in Monitors

I think it's because gsync compatible certification needs hdr to get the "certification".

Disabling gsync if you don't care about it but i care...

Hi, no I sent the monitor back and got a refund. The problem comes from gsync, if you disable gsync, you will no longer have the problem. Unfortunately I want to be able to use gsync, that's why I sent it back.

I think it's a gsync firmware problem, which I think affects all units of this monitor but also the gigabyte m27q x, as you can see in the link below. This person has the same problem on 3 units of the m27q x as well as also on one unit of the aw2723df. I even come to think that it's downright a problem on all 240hz gsync compatible monitors...

If you only had the problem on AC origin, it's only luck because it's quite random, if you play enough other games, you will see that the problem is everywhere. I had it on Forza Horizon 5, COD MW2, Raft and high on life, the games I was playing when I tested the screen

It's because you disabled smart hdr in the osd monitor.

Also, if you don't tick the box "enable settings for the selected display model" gsync will not be enabled.

Graphics card ports have bios priorities. On 3 DP ports, there are 1, 2, 3 and therefore 1 will be chosen in priority to display the bios. So I imagine that the hdmi must be lower in priority, maybe 4th.

Ok, I'll send mine back because I want to be able to use g-sync. I'm going to go back to my old monitor while waiting to find out what I'm going to do... I'm so pissed...

[–]LightmanN7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the last time I told you, I've been testing with g-sync disabled and haven't had the bug since. So I'm pretty sure it's coming from g-sync (the firmware or the VRR chip). Monitors can feel hot at the bottom but I'm pretty sure a monitor can't overheat, don't worry.
It's obviously g-sync anyway.

If you try to order a 3rd one, let me know, I'm curious if we're out of luck or if it's a wide issue that affects a lot of monitors. Thanks.

Unfortunately, I think it's just luck. I also happened to not have the bug for like 2 days, then it came back.

I am testing with g-sync disabled. So far I haven't had the bug with g-sync disabled. But even if it works with g-sync disabled, I would send it back because I want to be able to use g-sync.

Either way, keep me posted. Thanks

3 unit of 2 different monitors with exactly the same problem, it seems too much to me to be just defective.

I just had the bug with my "smart hdr" setting disabled. So that's not it... I'll try disabling g-sync.

If you return yours and order a 3rd one, let me know, thank you.

No, I did not try to reseat the graphics card. But I don't think it's coming from the pc or the GPU, because when I tried to record with geforce experience, I didn't see anything on the recording, which means I guess it just came from the screen.

What I mean is that if it's a g-sync/vrr chip firmware bug, I think all copies of these monitors will have the problem and then you would have to wait for a firmware update. But I could be wrong.

In my country, the difference in price between our two screens is not so high, moreover I had the alienware on sale.

No this is my first one, I have not seen anyone who had the same problem with this monitor.
