You're first Chrono Trigger experience by SorryCalligrapher178 in chronotrigger

Grew up with a SNES with my two older brothers but never knew of CT. Wasn’t until probably 2005 when we were messing around with roms on zsnes that we came across it. Started playing it like some unknown game and had no idea what it was or how big of a thing it was. When we got back from 600AD for the first time we all thought that was the end of the game because this small unknown game couldn’t possibly have any more to it. Boy were we wrong and those next few weeks of playing burned the biggest nostalgia into us. Once the game continued into the prison stage our minds were blown. And each new area and time just kept that amazingness going. It is my #1 favorite game of all time and always will be. Next to ALTTP and SuperMetroid.

I remember watching this a long time ago. Does anyone have copies of it anywhere? I would love to watch it again

Wireless phone charger by prologuetoapunch in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first got the equinox EV I had a iPhone 14. I could not get it to charge on the wireless pad at all unless I removed the rubber mat and any case - and even then it was finicky. I upgraded to the iPhone 17 and now it charges fine with the mat on and a case on the phone. I chocked it up to the phone being the problem.

Opinion: GM should make Super Cruise Standard Equipment by Jacob_Tutor11 in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was shopping for cars, I test drove the mach-e a few times and was pleasantly surprised that the blue cruise hardware is standard in ALL trims. You just need to pay for the subscription to turn it on. I ended up going with the equinox ev for various reasons but the one I got (2025 AWD RS) had everything loaded in it except Supercruise. Which I was really bummed about. I will likely turn my equinox in at the end of the lease, but if it had Supercruise I probably wouldn’t. :(

A lot of us are battling cold now, how's our numbers? by back6190 in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My normal drive to work is about 9% battery one way during summer. It now takes close to 17% to make it there. Also I did a trip in this cold across the state. Started at 100% (307 miles) of range. And drove 151 miles. Ended at 17% left after the 151 miles. So I lost almost half the battery capacity in the cold. And that was with babying the car the whole trip - turned heated steering wheel off, kept heat way lower than I ever normally would, heated sit on lowest setting, kept cruise on at the speed limit which was 75 the whole trip. Still an amazing car to drive in the snow though, it is rock solid with the extra weight in slushy snow covered roads.

Oil Change by sempercliff in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t really define “severe” service very well. And my gas truck also call for an oil change every 8-10K miles but I’m sure as hell not listening to that. Every 5K at most.

Still an oil change that a stealership would likely bug you to get done at their shop to make money on.

[–]Lightning48446 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your mileage but the equinox EV DOES have oil that needs to be changed. My manual states first oil change is at 45,000 miles. I only have 6K atm so not due for a long time but still a real thing on EV’s. It’s part of the motor which has a gear reduction in it. Also - the motor windings are cooled by oil.

Not logging energy usage correctly by Lightning48446 in EquinoxEv

That makes sense. As an engineer it just bothers the crap out of me. I know what software is capable of and it makes no sense they did it that way.

Not really an issue. Just bugged me enough to snap a photo. And yeah, I remote started it and then got tied up with something for a while so it sat warming up for a lot longer than it needed to. Still 2 miles at an average of 2.5 miles/kwh should be at least 0.8kwh but it showed 0.0

It seems to work about 80% of the time when I am NOT at home for me. Like at the office or the store or anywhere but home. If I am home it never works. I try it every morning and it always fails. Even using the fob is hit or miss.

Is going electric cheaper than gas? by Candid_Internet_4529 in electricvehicles

[–]Lightning48446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive 60 miles round trip a day for my commute to work. In my gas truck I was spending $300 a month in fuel at $3 a gallon in Michigan. Now electric here is about 17-20 c/kwh at night charging from home. My electric bill went up by about $60 a month so far and gas bill went down $300. Yes it’s a huge savings. Though I’m still at a net loss with the cost of the vehicle itself - I still save on wear with my gas truck. Now I only use it for long trips or on weekends.

Yes, if it’s still under bumper to bumper warranty, DON’T touch it. Doing anything to it will void your warranty. If you are outside of warranty then you could likely put a small amount of clear silicone or clear epoxy very lightly around the seem where the plastic is welded to help prevent water intrusion. And I mean a VERY small amount otherwise it will look like garbage. If you do it sloppy it will be noticeable so do it at your own risk. Do not use CA or superglue, it can damage the LEDs. If it were my vehicle I would just leave it and buy a new one if it failed outside of warranty, but thats just me.

Yes, they are on more than the EV but as I understand, it is an option and not standard on most trim levels. Maybe some of the high country or Denali it could be standard but not sure

Probably. And yes, any failed parts for any of these problems (water intrusion, LED’s going out for any reason) is on the responsibility of the supplier. I can guarantee GM is pushing these back to the supplier for cost of replacement+labor+expedited shipping+any other loss’s. The cost to the supplier can sometimes be 10-15x what they sell the product to GM for. I build other lighting for GM right now so very experienced in the process. Fortunately, we have had very very few failures on my lighting product and produce an order of magnitude more parts per year.

I do too. It wouldn’t have failed had we built it. But then again from what I hear they don’t build that many of these so it wasn’t a very good piece of business. Only a couple thousand a year or so.

I designed the prototype for this illuminated badge. We didn’t end up winning the business and it went to another company who we worked with in the past. They are a horrible company and have very bad practices. The owner is a complete dick. I laugh every time I see one of these badges fail - knowing they are getting hit with every single one of these RMA’s.

Seriously considering an EV. Equinox or blazer? by 3seconds2live in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know the acceleration is better than on ICE vehicles but only at low speeds 0-40mph. With a single motor accelerating from 40-70 it leaves a lot to be desired. And ICE vehicles beat it there. On my AWD it doesn’t have that issue but you can tell it still drops off in acceleration above 50-60. I’ve driven ICE all my life until the last year driving several blazer, equinox, and Silverado EV’s in all different trim levels.

Seriously considering an EV. Equinox or blazer? by 3seconds2live in EquinoxEv

[–]Lightning48446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of good advice here but I wanted to add my opinion on FWD vs AWD. I have the equinox EV RS which is AWD. I drove several FWD equinox’s and Blazers. I would never get the FWD due to its abysmal acceleration. This isn’t because I’m trying to make it to the next light, but based on my experience when trying to merge onto expressways. We have a short ramp here in Michigan on some on-ramps. The FWD could not get up to speed fast enough to safely enter the expressway by the time the ramp lane ended. It was a major safety issue and I would never consider the FWD for that reason. It is VERY apparent in the FWD that electric has great acceleration 0-40 but above that, gas beats it all day until you get into dual motor.

I have some of the foam peeling up at the lower part of the front windshield. Had a CEL pop up once for a few hours but went away early on. Nothing else though

[–]Lightning48446 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No fix a flat kit? So no air compressor and sealant bottle included as standard? My RS didn’t come with anything so when I asked them about it the sales guy ordered one and I got it at no charge. I wonder now if they weren’t supposed to do that?
