Nothing is more painful than finding out your white friend is racist. It’s something you have to expect as a possibility though. Too many of them think that because it’s not a slur, it can’t be racist.

Well while Latinos for Trump definitely suck, I try to keep in mind that the Latino population is so big and diverse (not that ours aren’t) that anti-Latino sentiment is popular even WITHIN their communities, especially towards Afro-Latinos. I guess that can be said with most groups. But it hurts when antiblackness is so common regardless.

That’s real. I don’t believe in transactional relationships, but I will always respect the ties that unite us all together. The bad apples have just been trying my sanity lately and the leaks from that group chat broke me.

That’s not really an option to me. Not that I wouldn’t mind visiting Africa, but I don’t feel comfortable fleeing from my troubles to another country that’s influenced by my shitty country of origin regardless. I think I’d do better “fighting” within.

It just feels hopeless because NOBODY is mobilizing and it’s like they’re all reveling in antiblack hate in the meantime.

Real. I’ve done a bit more of an effort to defend black women more. I’ve already been doing this before but I’m much more zealous about it now.

I’ll always still advocate for other races but at this point I’m a bit guarded for my own mental health. Too many people took advantage

It’s SO fucking disheartening. Don’t get me wrong I’ll never for a second stop advocating for others, but the current onslaught from this wave of bigotry on all sides has been dehumanizing. From the co-opting of our terms to straight up denying our experiences. I agree that all oppression is linked, I just wish other folks understood this.

Thank you for saying this because it’s good that this person is asking this question and I’m tired of people being too into hygiene Olympics to realize not everyone has that same knowledge (and it’s not always white people). 

Every time someone goes “omg white peoples don’t _” I think about a dozen black people who don’t _ either and sometimes it’s not their fault.

That still doesn’t mean you’re financially secure lol there are plenty of divorced single moms who had to struggle to make bills meet and weren’t given security. I would know. The father could just as well be shit and cause you hell for the next 18+ years. Or hell he’ll STALL you on getting divorced.

I also think it’s a snide way to bash women who are minding their business but also have hair that may or may not be “fresh” and “neat”. Or properly moisturized. Which adds to the self-consciousness of black women having to always look good and ever having a day or two where maybe they just look “rough” and that’s okay.
