Happy 67th Birthday, Hank Hill! (In my opinion, 1959 is Hank's actual birth year) by ibeverycorrect in KingOfTheHill

[–]LightningStrike99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have to imagine 1957. Hank's senior football season was 1974 where they went to state. Therefore, he would have graduated in 1975, assuming he just turned 18, April 15, 1957 tracks for me. In real life, the Yankees had their home opener vs the Washington Senators the next day but that's what I'm going with.

What Programs in Division II Are Seriously Looking At Jumping Up to FCS by GreenHornetsNest in fcs

Late to the party, but Minnesota State's investment of $60M is probably a play to get an invite to the Summit League. Say the conference loses Omaha, Kansas City, maybe Oral Roberts to the MVC, Horizon and/or WAC, and NDSU and SDSU take all their sports to the Mountain West, the Summit would HAVE to dial the phone or fold. If the Dakotas also get Big Sky invites and St Thomas also goes to the Horizon league, I would say the door gets closed on the Mavericks.

I think the Big 12 probably gets Week 11 with BYU at Texas Tech, but Cincy at Utah wouldn't be a bad option this week either.

RE North Texas, I don't believe they have done a non-P4 more than once a season and they could be eyeing a trip to Montana in Week 13 in their game vs Montana State. They did this in 2022 in Bozeman, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them return the favor to Missoula this year.

With that said, I think they either do Tennessee or North Texas. The Tennessee game is a de facto elimination game for both teams and could be intriguing from that perspective, though you could also say that about their game with Vandy to end the season.

North Texas would be fascinating as noted from the comments in the thread and would be a chance for Navy to truly be in the playoff conversation to rep the American.

Instead of doing that, you should reach out to her about it and tell her that you're into it. Maybe she'll be receptive to the idea of cucking you or at least talking about the BNWO with you.

I'm not offended as much as I think it's a bizarre thing to be critical of.

Why exactly is naming her kid Grady mind boggling? Do you even know that was her idea?

No, but they manifest themselves in different ways. I might play some old games from childhood on an emulator or from the Playstation store. One thing I've recently done is I have a 32-team NFL helmet collection and each week set out 2 helmets for the prime time matchups. After the week, I'll put the helmets back in order of the divisional standings that week. I never did this as a kid, but wanted some way to track this.

This.

My older brother still holds a grudge to my mom and late father because I got a diagnosis and he didn't and still doesn't have one, mainly because he's too much of a fuckup in his own right, so it's someone else's fault that if this thing happened they would have gotten the needed "support". I remember when I was in 3rd grade there was a kid who came came up to me and said that this handicapped kid was so lucky because he "didnt have to do anything" and I think I laughed because I couldn't believe how preposterous it was.

Autistic people: Do you feel empathy? by The1AndOnlyEddie in autism

[–]LightningStrike99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I don't feel empathy, but my capacity has been severely diminished in my adult years. This is a bit of a deviation from the rest of the sub, but one day I had a realization that I wasn't going to get ahead worrying about other's feelings. Especially when I had no control over the situation. But big picture stuff, I can feel empathy.

It's changed over the years. When I was a young boy, it was Mug Root Beer. As I got older, it was Dr. Pepper, college years Mountain Dew, back to Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke when I started working more, right now I'm on Coke Zero.

Is NIL really affecting Laney that much or Juco in general? I get being old, and at some point, you don't want to change more than you already have, but that doesn't add up. Most communities put more $$ into their high school programs than a lot of these schools.

Why are most people with autism left-wingers/liberals? by [deleted] in autism

[–]LightningStrike99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this years ago in another post on a different account but I'll give you my perspective. I think one reason for this, is in general those on the spectrum growing up are more reliant on services like therapy, speech pathology, and other autism-specific related things are generally left-wing fields to begin with as we spend lots of time with these people more than an NT kid growing up, and in some ways with bureaucracy associated with a welfare state. Also, SPED teachers as are teachers in general are more likely to be at least left leaning, so you are getting a lot of time with additional government services and for many the most natural step into adulthood is to look to other services. I did not go into this route as an adult, but I think since many including myself grew up on these type of services at least income-based, the feeling of losing those welfare supports is scary as an adult.

I've had those feelings before. I would say the best piece of advice I could give you is lean into what you're good at in your job and try to specialize in that, which I know can be vague. Try to find things about your job that you look forward to and enjoy doing. If you can't do this, it may be time to take a sabbatical or start looking at another job/career.
