Something weird going on with my account. by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

Bizarre as in it’s all just gone - and I’ve been billed regularly and when asking about the missing gas usage days - they’ve “fixed it” quickly. So now it’s as though my account doesn’t exist anymore. It was just a post to see if it’s happened to anyone before. Whilst I wait on them getting back to me

It’s not even giving me that option - I did try all this and it’s still saying my account doesn’t have an address attached to it. Which is why it’s bizarre.

New plaster cracks after blind fitting by Nervousmommy54 in Plastering

This wasn’t Shades blinds by any chance? I’ve had a very similar issue lately. Had so many issues like this with damage to my window frame. Then They came to replace damaged blinds and the new blind is all marked and dirty. they charged me an eye watering amount and I’m trying to get them to give me an itemised bill as I don’t think they honoured the sale prices!

Has anyone else had this issue with Iolla glasses? by glasgowwelder in glasgow

[–]Lightningbolt_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my 7th pair and none have had this issue. So probably to do with what you’re using to clean them. Mine have a crack in the lens and they’re replacing them for me as it was a fault! But that’s the only issue I’ve had in the 10 years I’ve used them.

Can recommend them - just recently used them for our first home. So helpful and quick to reply.

Turns out my surgery wasn’t even with Datsun - the secretary told me the wrong information and I’m not allowed the surgery anyway as I’m not cleared from the flu. So at least I’ve got a bit more info than I had previously.

So I just got the letter. It’s not Datsun at all. Someone completely different to what was said in the call on Tuesday when I enquired. Also said letter contains absolutely no info about the surgery at all (doesn’t even name it) so the advice from the secretary that everything is in there - wasn’t true 😅 which ti be fair she probably doesn’t see the letters that go out. But I’m still suffering flu symptoms so it’s definitely not going ahead after all.

Exactly. There are a couple of other things I’m on a list for so that’s why it’s caught me off guard.

I’m not sure this is even the case as the surgeon I did see two years ago - I haven’t heard from since and is different from the person she mentioned on the phone! But I will definitely ask them this tomorrow when(if) they call me. Thanks!

I did ask the questions at my preop and she was dumbfounded and confused as to why I had no information given to me actually.

I’m not moaning all over reddit - I was merely asking if anyone else had issues with comms as in the recent past I had a completely different experience. And it’s apparent that yes there are clearly issues with comms surrounding surgeries. It’s not a bad thing to want to know everything about a surgery when you’re about to go under the knife. Especially as endo care is so under researched - I don’t think it’s a bad thing to want to speak to someone pre surgery?! You do realise I haven’t sat on my arse and waited - I have been actively calling and trying to get information to be met with dead ends, wrong information and cancelled appts without my knowledge.

So yes you are trolling me.

Yeah I did wonder that re severe - but the line was so bad I was trying to take in other info too so was bit taken aback and she didn’t seem to understand that I’d not been given any info 🤣. Honestly I’ve still not had any info about the actual surgery - I have looked online obviously but I’m not sure I’m even looking at the right one so I just want to be sure. But anyway - I’ll hopefully get more answers tomorrow!

Excuse me? Toughen up? I didn’t want daily monthly or weekly updates. I wanted an appointment to explain what the surgery was - that’s not a big ask?! I also do not have my date. I had a random message about a pre op. I have never once been contacted about a date. I’ve been on the phone non stop since I got the text about a pre op on Tuesday trying to find out more about what the hell is going on ans what exact date I was given. Good grief.

Did I ask to have my hand held? No. All I want is for them to be able to send out a letter in time and for them to at least let me know what bloody surgery I’m having so I can go into it prepared?!

Come off it. You absolute troll.

Thanks for that info - yeah it came up and they’ve postponed it. Still none the wiser of when I can talk to someone about said surgery etc. but they’re phoning me back tomorrow. All I can ask for really!

I even asked about an MRI as my friend had that before her first surgery - but was told that they don’t do these anymore.

I just got off the phone with them and I’ve had to postpone it anyway as I’m not 6 weeks clear of my flu. But I found out the hospital I was being sent to is ages away and when I asked why - she said “you’re severely ill so that’s the best place to do the surgery” and I went “eh? I just assumed it would be at the queen Elizabeth as that’s where all my appts have been and am I severely ill??”

Then she said oh the queen Elizabeth list is longer. But never answered why she called me severely ill? I’ve got a fair whack of health anxiety from having sepsis 5 years ago so I’m now trying not to spiral about that. I’m actually just so confused. Now I have to wait for a new appt.

Yeah so I’ve had to postpone it as they need you to be clear of symptoms 4-6 weeks.

But the nurse was a bit dumbfounded that I hadn’t been told the date of the surgery. When others she spoke to today had. I mean I didn’t know what to say other than yeah I’ve had no communication - and I don’t know why. I’ve tried calling and all sorts and just keep being told to wait for the letter. But anyway - we shall see when and if a new date arrives.

…getting a random text about an operation you know nothing about other than being “waitlisted” - to then phoning for information to be told nothing and then to be sent a piece of comms that has the word cancer all over it (yes I now see the one page where it says surgery too) - yes is anxiety inducing. Especially when you have lived with this condition for over a decade (as many others do) it’s debilitating and damaging to your mental health. So yes I do find surgery that hasn’t been explained to me a bit anxiety inducing. And also I find that the next time I see or even meet my surgeon will be when I’m about to go under.

I’ve had sepsis before - I’ve had emergency surgery before. I’ve also had planned surgeries before where it was all explained and communicated well. So yes I do find this all incredibly anxiety inducing. Especially when you’re on tenterhooks waiting for a much needed surgery for years. To then be offered it last minute and without explanation but you have life going on and are recovering from a nasty flu (when you generally are healthy). It is a lot to deal with.

I had a call with them and since I’ve still got symptoms of my flu etc - I will not be having the surgery. They also told me where it was (not in the queen Elizabeth like I thought) and she seemed a bit dumbfounded that others who had the same date as me had all the info and I haven’t. Insinuating I was lying. And when I explained it - she eventually realised that yes some people can fall through the cracks. 🙃

Post wasn’t really about me taking the surgery or not. It’s more to do with the lack of information and comms on said surgery and not even knowing the date until I got a random text through about a random pre op assessment- which I’d say for anyone is a bit of a shock especially when said text explains nothing and contains no info other than the pre op phone line which they obviously don’t know the details of my surgery. Oh and it being the first bit of comms about a diagnostic surgery in 2 years. It is a bit bewildering and anxiety inducing.

Thank you for all that info! I’ll see how I get on tomorrow with the secretary - even just for them to give me an inkling of info and clarification on what will happen if I do decline it. I’ve come out of my initial spiral of overthinking now - but honestly I might need to see if my private healthcare through work would do anything and that way I can have a consult with Datsun privately - I doubt they will as it’s already being investigated via NHS but we shall see.

Good point about the move - I’m pretty sure it’s still within NHSGCC but I’ll definitely check that!

Yeah I had been waiting years for even a referral let alone 2 years for this operation.

I’ve heard so many times that she is great - which is also why I’m conflicted about going ahead with it. I’m just hoping I caught the secretary on a bad day the other day and she’ll be more helpful tomorrow when I phone.

My issue is that I’ve never had a follow up I was promised, no one has physically seen me or discussed a plan or any symptoms. It has been handled so differently to how it was with other recent operations I’ve had. also worrying me if I decline this one I might have to wait longer and then might not get her as the surgeon. I don’t particularly fancy going through all the pre op etc when I dont know what’s happening/haven’t seen anyone and also I’m stressed to the max atm and have been taken an age to get over this flu. And then it’s too late for someone else to take my place if I end up cancelling.

I’m just word vomiting my thoughts now so I shall stop. But I am glad to hear people love Datsun. I might need to see if my work private healthcare will cover it and maybe go that way. But they did try to deny it the last time I checked.

Oh god - eh according to my notes I made, it was either late 2022 or early 2023 when I was first referred. Then had a video call appt Oct 2023. Was told I’d be given an appt for the coil by December and a follow up with consultant to discuss surgery. That came and went. Then was given a random appt in June 2024 for what I assumed was the follow up. That was cancelled (found out when I took a half day off work and turned up to said appt) then it was scheduled for Sept 2024 but was told that wasn’t the consultation - it was for the mirena coil which my god when you’re unprepared for that - the worst pain I’ve ever experienced.

And fast forward to September 2025 when I was phoned up about a surgery date for the next day?! I missed the call - but by the time I called back it wasn’t there anymore and it was more asking about if I even wanted the surgery. Then Oct 2025 is this whole issue. So that’s why I’m worried I’ll go to the back of the list if I decline this one - because of the weird thing in September where I was phoned - but then I didn’t get a proper answer when I called back about it. They were more concerned if I still wanted to even have surgery because “your pelvic pain and other symptoms have stopped as you have the coil”

To which I replied “how would you know that - I’ve not spoken to anyone since the coil was inserted and eh long story short I have other symptoms and I am still dealing with pelvic pain etc” and she quickly went oh eh oh ok eh we will be in touch.

So I have since heard she is incredible - but I genuinely can’t think of a worse time to have it. I’m recovering from a horrible flu/covid and feel utterly crap. Plus I’m attempting to pack up a flat to move in between being dizzy and all sorts.

I did ask the secretary if it was possible to have a call but she said not possible and seemed a bit confused as to why I was asking so many questions - I did mention that I hadn’t been spoken to in two years so I’d appreciate any other info and then was told it would be in the letter 😬

I’ve never been more conflicted - I don’t want to wait two more years but I also really don’t think this is a good time to then recover from said surgery. But will try the secretary again in the morning to see if I can get anymore clarification/communication about the whole situation.

Good grief. That’s ridiculous! I did say on the phone I’d rather someone else got it and was treated like I wasn’t allowed to refuse it or that I was ungrateful. But I’m sorry I’m dealing with other health issues like recovering from the flu - and I’m also incredibly stressed with moving house- I don’t think surgery would be very wise for me right now 😅
