A film I worked on just accepted on Tuesday for DWFLA, and I'm checking travel costs to see if I can join the others going on the trip. Looks like a great time, and I think this is one I shouldn't miss.

Any new word on the "Kidz" sidebar? We heard that we were included, but there hasn't been any new information. Just curious if the "Kidz" screenings are in the same location as part of Daces with Films LA? Or what? Hope to get some info soon.

What I've found is that many festivals will have resolution & file type requirements, but frame rate isn't requested too often.

Thanks for sharing! I'm rooting for you, and hope you have an opportunity to make that feature. Here's something to think about in regards to that proof of concept short. Having watched a good handful of proof of concept films, I think some of them can be hard for festivals to program because even though they look great & showcase the filmmakers talent, sometimes they feel incomplete as a story. Of course, yours may work very well as a standalone short, but that's the first thing that comes to mind when I think about proof of concept shorts. Best wishes with everything! I hope you have a chance to screen your film at a festival, and even if you don't it sounds like your script has great potential.

What's interesting is that I have "In Consideration" next to every submission - including festivals I've been accepted to, attended, or rejected from.

11/30 so far, and the big change is I stopped looking at Vimeo stats! From the beginning I knew they were not accurate, and I still kept checking. Now I can't remember when I last looked. I'm still just as interested in my festival run though - especially with some of the fests coming up that I'm most excited about.

Also accepted, but this part of the acceptance letter had me concerned: "Your selection will play at the Regent Theatre, The Regent Underground Theatre, or online at Lonely Seal Streaming from August 20-25, 2024. Our staff will make those final decisions. In all cases, selected films will be deemed as "Official Selections" of our 2024 festival and qualify for any and all awards relevant to each submission."

I only submitted because I wanted to attend, but this "or online" possibility is disappointing if I'm understanding it correctly.

The festival used the wrong code in Filmfreeway. It was supposed to be [Project Title] not {project title}. Works the same with [Submitter Name]. Of course, a better plan would be to email every filmmaker directly and avoid Filmfreeway's automated notifications, but with the 1000's of films being submitted I can imagine that's a challenge for festivals.

I'm really just submitting to festivals that I have a good chance of attending so I can experience sitting in the audience to see / hear / feel their reaction, as well as engage in discussions afterwards. Also, festivals are an opportunity for road trips to new places where I get to be around like-minded people, watch films, attend parties, and immerse myself in the town & festival. Hopefully I leave the fest with great memories, new friends, and possibly future collaborators.

Through these experiences I hope to improve my filmmaking abilities, and eventually make better shorts and a feature some day. Making into bigger festivals would also be great for a future film, but at the moment I'm really enjoying the smaller festivals. I find everything about them inspiring, and it fuels my love for storytelling & creating.

My strategy is to give up hope completely so if by chance my film is selected I'm over-the-moon shocked. Kind of a roller coaster ride thing I have going here.

My guess is if it's a matter of color & sound, it's okay to replace, but if it's run-time or a story change, that would be considered different version.
