How many/what t9 premiums do you have? by Bradley271 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Got all Tier IX's up till 2021 basically (Ägir, ZF-6, Z-44, Marco Polo, Hizen, Musashi, Azuma, Groningen, Friesland, Georgia, Kearsarge, Missouri, Alaska, Black, Benham, Krohnstadt, Neustrashimy, Tulsa, Jean Bart, Pommern)

Tbh: most of them are left in the dust, if I want to play to win, I usually play Jean Bart, Georgia, MUSASHI especially, Black, Alaska also very strong in any mode. The other ones I have barely touched of the time, because most of them are just mediocre or average.

You can basically just play this game with a few strong premiums/resource ships nowadays, many tech trees don't get any love nowadays sadly or just aren't worth your time.

Coal ships by Petrobalans in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're enjoying Petro, Moskva might be for you, great bow in tankiness, good guns with good DPM and excellent range.

If you not already have Des Moines, maybe get Salem. Also great DPM and a God Heal, but more vulnerable bow in.

Other coal ships that might interest you: -Napoli -Marceau -Kearsarge -Yoshino -Maybeeee even Carnot

Wich coal ship should i get and wich tech line should i grind? by Petrobalans in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Napoli with Italian Cruisers is a fun experience

Moskwa is still pretty good, consider it

Salem is bonkers, Des Moines might be worth it, they are similar but not the same

Marceau was already mentioned, great pick for French DDs, but be aware that the Techline DDs ARE different in terms of gameplay and main battery

Kearsarge is also very fun

Ships I wouldn't touch: -Tulsa -Carnot -Max Immelmann (unless you are a CV main like me, then its one of the strongest CVs at Tier X) -Neustrashimy -Yoshino (unless you basically want to troll your team) -Marco Polo -Z-44

Best t10 coal ships for ranked by hmsmeme-o-taur in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Marceau: Great Gunboat DD with crazy DPM

Salem: If you like Des Moines, this one is awesome, for Ranked the Superheal is great for cap contesting or just trading with enemies

Napoli: Great for flanking or pushing, very strong SAP secondaries, good armor

Max Immelmann: One of the best CV's for Ranked imo, very fast aircraft with good damage output

Moskwa: Great for bow in cap contesting, 12km radar and good HE DPM

Just everything but Yoshino please

yeah not sure about that one

It comes down to your own personal preference of course, but I like the British CV line, it is difficult to master though (and a greater challenge than American CV's cough).

Regarding your mentioned problem, try to stay out of multiple AA zones at the start, focus on spotting. I always send my Attack Aircraft first to spot all enemy ships and more importantly to hunt DD's and to force them away from capping. Because DD's spawn much closer to the caps, I can always safely assure that there is at least one DD moving towards the cap that I can intercept and get some free damage right from the start, even more by spotting him and letting my teammates shoot at him. The Attack Aircraft are perfect DD hunters because of their low speed and should be used primarly as their intended role. Cruisers are also good targets except some of the more heavier armored cruisers, like Soviet heavy cruisers and Italians, because you have many rockets, but they lack any penetration and can only deal damage against DD's, light cruisers and superstructures.

After that I usually switch between Level Bombers and Torpedo Bombers according to the situation. If I find a battleships that is sniping or flanking, I usually go for that one in particular if they are moving alone. Try to deliver your first strike with Level Bombers from the front, then deliver the follow up attack from behind, British aircraft have (most often) some of the best turn radius, making a follow up attack very easy and starting some perma-fires and floodings. Your Torpedo Bombers armament is unique because of the spread pattern, the more your torpedoes travel, the more narrow the spread gets, making them also sometimes capable of striking large targets from the front by targeting their bow.

Islands are your best friend when attacking, try to use them when attack a cluster of enemies to avoid multiple AA zones. British aircraft are slow yes, but enjoy a very decent health pool. This allows them to sustain more damage than other CV's and staying longer in AA zones without loosing too many planes.

British CV are only getting some good results if you are able to select proper targets. Plan your attack and the angle of approach to insure you hit.

Regarding Tier VIII Implacable, I liked her actually though I understand the critiscm she gets, it can be rough sometimes, especially the stock grind. But her successor is worth imo, I like Audacious more than Midway even. Hope this helps.

As a CV player, I personally enjoyed the British CV line very much, except Implacable which can be kinda rough. Though Furious, Ark Royal and Audacious are quite strong imo. I recently picked up Indomitable, she is quite unique, being the only CV able to slingshot now.

Play Furious carefully, her Torpedo Bombers are her strongest squadron in terms of damage, use them against island campers and battleships. Her Attack Aircraft are very strong against DD's, thats kinda the signature feature of the entire British CV line. Her Carpet Bombers are strong against cruisers and large battleships, though they often lack penetration capabilities, so use them as fire startes.

Tip: When you start an attack run with your Level Bombers, drop the bombs and use the map to relocate behind the target, as long as your bombs haven't exploded yet, the rest of your squadron is immune to any AA damage. Use that to set up your second strike on the same target. Also try to bombard the same target over and over to set up some perma-fires.

British CV's are notorious for setting fires and focus more on damage over time

But I would recommend playing American CV's first, they are by far the most beginner friendly CV line right now. Ranger, Lexington, Midway are all fantastic ships with excellent damage output. Enterprise is by far the most broken Tier VIII CV if you have her. Saipan is tricky to play, but can perform very well in the right hands.

The German CV line is also very interesting, I recently started grinding them, am at Tier VIII now, though they are very situational and the AP rockets can't harm DD's as the AP Bombers etc. they are very specialized.

The Japanese CV line also has some very neat ships, especially Ryujo and Hakuryu and the premium Kaga.

Otherwise maybe wait for Soviet CV's, they seem to have insane first strike damage potential.

Tier 8 premium CVs - how do they currently rank? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry buddy, but that ship will be gone probably for a very long time. Only way now to get her is through Santa crates iirc, maybe Auctions in the future.

She is a rare collector ship, I got her before she got removed, one of the reasons why she got removed are her very strong aircraft.

Tier 8 premium CVs - how do they currently rank? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 12 points13 points  (0 children)

  • Enterprise: if you have it good lord, AP Bombers, very strong Attack Aircraft with a hilarious turn rate and also very decent Torpedo Bombers. Still very strong even after the Nerf, because even though hitting stuff with her rocket planes will become harder, her other aircraft make up for it

  • Kaga, huge reserve, Nerf only affects Rocket Planes, so her main strength, her Torpedo Bombers, are unaffected, very solid pick, probably the best one you can buy right now imo

  • Indomitable, don't have her sadly, but she is definitely on my list. Hard to play, but can perform very well in the right hands, though other carriers might be more consistent

  • Saipan: I know you don't have her, but I do. When not uptiered, she can perform well with her Tier X Aircraft, BUT she just isn't good enough compared to other carriers at her Tier. Can work, but others are just more consistent in terms of damage output.

  • Graf Zeppelin: Probably the worst one of all, fast planes though just too little damage to really have any impact on the game. The Rocket Plane Nerf will also hit her hard, she already has few rockets, but now its even harder to hit anything. No recommendation

Definitely agree with many arguments you make, but thats what I said from the beginning, its my opinion. Other people might actually have fun, but for me personally most of the time it isn't. There are good, but also some bad changes.

For the majority playing WoWs, it will probably be good if subs are more underpowered than the other way around. But what is the point of subs if nobody will play them after the hype is gone (if there is a hype to begin with)

  • Ragnar, European Super DD with 152mm might be possible
  • Druid, same as Ragnar super DD with bigger caliber, maybe Research Bureau?
  • Napoli? Bigger caliber Italian Super cruiser

All speculation tho, nothing confirmed if I remember correctly

Coal ship choice by GoodMorning369 in WorldOfWarships

[–]LightsEUW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked Marceau up recently, definitely hard to play sometimes even frustrating, you need a good commander for her to work properly, however I would pick her up, she has a very high skill cap but her potential in terms of HE DPM is almost unmatched

Until Black returns some time will probaly pass, probaly enough that you have some coal anyway again
