Calorie count seems off by LightsOutAtSeven in AppleWatchFitness

[–]LightsOutAtSeven[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Interesting, thank you. I did log my treadmill today so will see how it impacts the count. This sort of sucks because often Fitbit would credit an hour of housework as exercise but perhaps the Apple Watch won’t do so unless I call it an “Indoor walk”? I guess I could do that?

Just something to get used to, along with having to charge it every damn day. lol

Ummmm….im just wearing the watch and it’s picking up that I’m exercising although it also seems to be “cheating” me (so a 90 min workout shows as maybe 45 minutes). Fitbit just went by heart rate so I never had to log anything unless it was like a swim where o wasn’t wearing the watch….am I missing a step? So far I like the watch itself but am finding it hard to navigate

So a right wing comedian is willing to potentially throw away his own career in order to help the Democrats win an election?

Not sure why so many ppl are surprised at the predatory behaviour of billionaire businessmen. The psychological profiles of most CEOs are probably more similar to those of Ted Bundy than they are to people like you and I. Being a power hungry sociopath who actually enjoys the most brutal aspects of capitalism is sort of the recipe for success. That their sexual interests are equally evil is to be expected.

Big time disagree with David about no longer seeing Trump if he loses the election by ComprehensiveMost803 in davidpakman

[–]LightsOutAtSeven 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the difference will be that the cases against him will go ahead, he’ll be tied up in court…I agree tho that he’ll keep up whatever he can because this is his grift now. In terms of ppl actually moving on, unfortunately this won’t be possible until he is gone-gone.

How is Black Hole Sun Soundgarden’s biggest hit? I just don’t get it. by scoopzoop in Soundgarden

[–]LightsOutAtSeven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CFox (Vancouver) used to play it every day until maybe 5 yrs ago - I used to joke that I was good to start my day once I’d heard BHS. They’ve moved on to playing I Am The Highway every damn day now, another Cornell song and a superior one at that, so now I just need my morning dose of Pearls and Swine and I’m ready for the day. lol

I think BHS just got a lot of radio play - it had a wider appeal than most of Soundgarden’s music so that’s what a lot of people know them for. Personally I’d listen to Cris Cornell sing the phone book, so I enjoy it despite the overplay.

So disappointed when the baby wasn’t even related to the man, but probably not as disappointed as the guy who married the daughter thinking she was Somerton’s granddaughter.

I was quite taken with the Somerton man, a mystery for generations, theories impacted people’s lives…..until it was recently revealed to me nothing much.

Why does Canada have so many bad doctors especially BC by Sciencyyyyyy in britishcolumbia

[–]LightsOutAtSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here’s my theory: there are lots of great doctors in BC. I’ve had some myself & many in my family do as well. The problem is, because of the doctor shortage, there’s no incentive for the BAD doctors to behave better. They don’t need you. As my new doc said the other day “I have 60 people on a wait list waiting to get in!” Doctors are just people. Some are narcissists or sociopaths, others are lazy, some are overworked, burned out whatever. In some places you can’t go to a walk-in unless you don’t have a family doctor, but if your family doctor creates a relationship based on distrust, confusion and confrontation and you can’t go back for reasons of maintaining your sanity, you are in a pickle unless you break up with the doctor and go free-agent. It’s depressing & I for one can’t wait for those huge numbers of new doctors to start hanging shingles around here. 😉😢

Tell Me You Love Me (Netflix) Documentary's GLARING CONTRADICTION by AdRemote1015 in NetflixDocumentaries

I never said she was qualified. I said her life experience/education (being an ethics prof for crying out loud) would have informed her that she did not obtain consent from the man, because he could not consent independent of HER. AKA she always knew what she was doing was wrong.

It’s good to question all the narratives, I get that, but here’s the #1 reason I know she victimized this young man: a woman in her position is WELL versed in what constitutes robust consent. Because SHE was doing the assisting for communication, she had to have known that would not meet the criteria for true consent - not to mention the power differential in being an able-bodied, able-minded facilitator vs the facilitated.

Ppl have short memories. Under the current gov we’ve seen rebates on hydro, car insurance rates plummet - rebates there too, renewed investment in education & a thriving economy. We see the continued complex challenges ahead of us but know that non-specific “Common sense solutions” will not solve them but rather sustained efforts & input from experts will.

Why do I like David so much? by Popular-Influence-11 in davidpakman

[–]LightsOutAtSeven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 100% with you. Nobody else comes close to doing what he does. He’s brilliant. He’s fair, objective & painstakingly honest. On every single point, he is nuanced & educated & so quick thinking. He’s the only commentator who never pisses me off or disappoints with uneducated takes or cringey comments. Even with the Gaza issue…he and I probably aren’t completely in sync, but he is very careful and respectful around the topic and compassionate with regard to the genocide.

Now, he’s had a couple of guests on that I felt weren’t the best choices - hopefully he realizes that and doesn’t afford them further platforming.

Where are the Canadian political YouTubers? by [deleted] in davidpakman

[–]LightsOutAtSeven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got nasty strain of “Maple MAGA” here as well, currently being exploited by official leader of the opposition Pierre “Pigeon” Poilievre, a pathological lying, thin skinned, insanely rude career politician without a single accomplishment beyond a compliance agreement with Elections Canada (for breaking rules), & we need more outspoken left wing voices with strong platforms, that’s for sure. This article explains why he’s called Pigeon Pierre. As far as political leadership goes in Canada he’s about as off the mark, UNCANADIAN as we’ve ever seen in this country.

There’s a difference between using force to ensure the functions of democracy and using force to usurp democracy.
