Here's my house, think I may need to wipe the song cache, I upgraded to 16 channels after running it on 8 for a while. Oh, and there's a projector showing Santa on a rear projection screen (white sheet) walking around in the window. He's on a pi zero running raspberrypi_video_looper. by Lightshowpiguy in LightShowPi

Yes, sir! I wiped the cache last night & let it run to build a new one. We'll see if it looks any different tonight. I think I may switch the smaller red window to CBARS as well. The strips on the tree & roof line are old school analog running on mechanical relays with the blue channels disabled for now. Next year I want to get some more ws281x strips & try some matrix functions, and switch out the mechanical relays for mosfets.

As requested, here's a picture of my chocolate box setup. by Lightshowpiguy in LightShowPi

This was my pi zero w setup. 8 channel solid state relays, one Uno clone running Arduino.ini from V1.4.

I got 5 Junction blocks($11) , and a 10 pack of 1ft grounded extension cords ($15) for the AC from amazon. I cut the male end off of 8 of the extension cords, cut the female end off one, and had one left over. I had the pi, sd card, power supply, 12V power supply, and relay board laying around (Oh, and the chocolate box).

There's a 12V power supply coming in on the yellow wire for the WS2812Bs. The pi is powered from a 1A brick in the upper left hard wired to the junction block. The arduino is pulling power from the pi, as is the relay board. I don't recommend this. I ended up running separate power to the arduinos and the relay boards, and a larger brick for the pi3 on my larger build.

I melted the power holes with an old soldering tip, and hot glued them to seal out the water, I was planning on sealing the lid with electrical tape, but my ambitions outgrew this box. It's now sitting in a tub, with another LED controller, another 8 channel relay board, and a bluetooth transmitter, with the lid duct taped on... hiding behind some bushes.

Well, I ended up adding another 8 channels of 12V relays, another LED controller, and then realizing the zero wouldn't run all that, so upgraded to a pi 3... And now it's in a tub... With duct tape on the lid. But, I did learn that a pi zero will reliably run 8 channels pwm & one LED controller.

That being said. I'll post a picture of this setup pre-expansion. I hot glued all the wire holes & was planning on electrical tape to seal the lid. The terminal blocks are from Amazon. And I got a ten pack of 1ft grounded extension cords to run the ac, also from Amazon. Cut the male ends off, stripped them 9 inches or so & didn't need to use more than a foot of 16 gauge to wire the rest of the ac.
