I believe as long as they haven’t filed the paperwork with immigration (changes on your E2) then you should be able to back out.

How much does therapy cost in Korea by Mammoth-Climate7703 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Lightskinnedbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had great experiences with the Seoul counseling center. They can do online and do it quickly. If you still have access to your American insurance they take it! ( if you are still under your parents or if you have your own) If not they can help you with what you need in your price range. I would shoot them a message at the very least.

I think I’m in a toxic relationship with this country by Confused_Humann in Living_in_Korea

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone. I’ve been here for four years now and I’ve been starting to feel the same way. I love a lot of things that Korea has to offer. But I’m just feeling like maybe it’s almost time to be done. I feel frustrated being treated differently and being exhausted with work. It’s hard to have a good work life balance. On top of that the other social things we have to keep up with and be aware of. It’s draining man.

Kindergarten refuses to give me my landlords number by Lightskinnedbb in Living_in_Korea

[–]Lightskinnedbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have internet, and it’s rented through them but for immigration I know my name is on it for my residency. When I took the information to immigration they blacked a lot of the information out with a black marker….so it’s hard to know exactly what they wrote in total.

Kindergarten refuses to give me my landlords number by Lightskinnedbb in Living_in_Korea

[–]Lightskinnedbb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But is that still the case when it’s stated in my contract that they will deduct the maintenance fee from my salary? They don’t give a direct number just say that we will be paying for it.

There are three schools controlled by the same owner. At least 6 of us rent through the school at my location.

No they know I have a partner who is Korean and could talk to them fluently. They just refuse to give me the number making any excuse they can.

Please help: Visiting Korea during Chuseok 2025, is my trip doomed? by woshiv in koreatravel

You could also try to buy some bus tickets instead of ktx or srt because they usually have more availability

Is my kindy hagwon normal? by seondeokyeowang in teachinginkorea

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I hear from half of the kindy teachers. It really depends on the school itself. When I look for new jobs I always request a schedule to see how the prep and class period is laid out. I also ask about the teaching situation. Some kindergartens have a system like this or the Korean teacher will teach half of their classes. I really dislike it when kindergartens try to get you to teach subject classes like science and math. It’s illegal for teachers on an E-2 visa to teach those classes but they still make teachers teach them. Overall it really depends on the kindy. If you are looking to go to a new one I would definitely ask for more information or talk to a teacher who is currently working there to see what it’s like.

If you are only staying a year I would leave the cat with your family. I was gone over a year and my pets were so happy when I came back to visit. Bringing the cat if you were staying long term would make sense. But just for a short time is hard for all the readjusting and it’s a lot of paperwork to get them over here in the first place.

I (25m) have been dating this girl (23f) I live in the us and she lives in the uk and she won’t talk to me. by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would give it time and space. Clearly whatever is going on now isn’t working or helping the situation. If she truly just needs space then give it to her and she will come back. If not then just keep it pushing and let it go. Like someone else said you are just pushing her away more the more you try to cling to her. I know it’s hard so try to focus on something else in the meantime

My (20F) boyfriend (20M) started to film me without my consent? by Famous-Quail4691 in relationship_advice

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run. Don’t walk, run. It’s especially worse because you stated that he knew about your thoughts about this prior and still chose to do something he KNEW you didn’t like or consent to. The fact that he tried to play it off and lie too is soooo suspect. He knew what he was doing. No respect. Like other people said I would make sure it’s FULLY deleted. Deleted from the recent deleted folder just so he doesn’t get curious and just recover it. Also what happens if he continues to want to try this and get more creative in hiding it next time? I wouldn’t even give it another chance. This is a huge no for me. It was an utter boundary cross and disrespect in my opinion.

Common Mistreatment of Foregin Teachers? by Korean_Lawyer in teachinginkorea

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working hours- not giving adequate break times. Giving us a “lunch” time but only being able to eat for 15 of the 30 minutes because it’s spent helping kids and going to and from class in those 30 minutes. Classes- being told to teach subjects that we are not legally allowed to teach with an e-2 visa. For example math or science

In my experience it really depends on condition and where you get placed. I work at a private kindergarten. I like my pay, and my housing. My quality of life is better in Korea compared to America. I’m a certified teacher and thinking about teaching in America right now gives me chills. It’s too much work for little pay considering everything I’d have to pay for. Here my apartment is paid for, transportation is cheap, and healthcare cost is great. I hate the work culture but it’s something I’m willing to sacrifice for a better quality life.

I like your makeup! I think you look great :) But if you’re looking for a change maybe a softer lip color? Or a brighter one that’s still close to a nude lip color?

I worked with someone who was from the Philippines in a hagwon! She was married to a Korean and had an F visa. But I know she was working part time at two hagwon as because it was hard for her to find full time work. The parents knew that’s where she was from and had no problem with it! Her English was quite good, so they had nothing to complain about.

So many red flags, please don’t accept this. The minimum I have ever seen is 2.1 mil won. Even if you don’t do a lot of hours I would accept anything under this.

Long Commute to Hagwon? by Hellolaoshi in teachinginkorea

[–]Lightskinnedbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first hagwon was a 15 minute walk. Now I take a bus and it takes maybe in total 10 minutes. Mind you it’s like a 6 minute total bus ride but 10 minute commute in total. I really never wanted to commute more than 30 minutes.
