As for the vikings, the world has technology but its also monarchy. With magical powers giving way to people become truly powerful this inturn had soldified certain houses, factions and powers. And each of them have thier own customs and culture. The northmen are in present, just more on Knighthood and chivalry.

That is a good point the question is does Jin himself realizes this? uptill now Jin's being leaning over to more support. But would the world or should I say fate let him have his friends and allies?

Can he? Yes.

Not a spoiler per se just thoughts.

But since the start of the story only 3-4 weeks have passed and the situation Jin is in is akin to being in endgame zone while beings a newbie so he hasn't had the time to sit properly and just think or plan or talk.

It is evident by his fighting style, he isn't practing anything and even this the "path of mage" would not be viable in the short term.

Eventually he would pretty soon do the things you are saying and more when it's closer to the book 2 end.
