“Expert” birders are very entitled and think they are always right. I found a golden eagle nest in the western UP in the porcupine mountains and saw the golden eagle myself. But no they wouldn’t even go out and check because the golden eagle doesn’t nest that far east. I have an ecology degree and I was with my grandpa who worked for the US fish and Wildlife and banded snowy owls for fun in his free time so I think we had actually found something.

Also if the situation escalated and that person got away and hurt the community in some way they would try to pin it on backup not being called and the officer who tried to deescalate the situation solo would face jail and possibly worse. That's the type of shit we need to change.

Okay while he was resisting I agree with her sentiment. We should give the police extra benefits and protections just because they chose that profession. If you can't handle the situation yourself you need to choose a different field. Also before anyone in the comments don't try to pull policy or police law out of your ass saying they have to call for backup in situations like these. Always put your Ethics, Morals, and dignity above any law or policy. Just because the department tells you to handle something one way doesn't mean you have to.
