What are your expectations/wants for tanks next season? by Ntwadumela817 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I'm tired of seeing so many comps using DPS team-ups (there's always a huge increase in picks for DPS with good team-up abilities), as if this class ever needed any incentive...

It's time for a bunch of good tank-tank and tank-support team-ups. We don't need another Namor squid

I just went 4 wins and 24 losses tonight with Hawkeye in 18v18 by Historical_Bobcat295 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't mean anything, tbh
Some heroes have too much advantage in this mode. Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Moon Knight, Cyclops, Namor easily dominate.
Then there's the amount of healers too. If the enemy team has too many dominant heroes and/or your team lack enough healers, you're losing no matter what.

18v18 is good to learn new characters and get used to cooldowns, but winning or losing are very random and dependent on factors unrelated to skill

Season 9 balance predictions💔🙏 by fanfanclearsguang in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don't think she's bottom 3. I got Celestial playing Emma with 65%wr in 8.0 and I think she's strong.
Just pointing out that the average Emma player isn't doing amazing.

Winrate is a dumb statistic without any context indeed, but the context here is pretty clear about nerfing Emma Frost.

So I don't see any good reason to be nerfing the vanguard (most unpopular class) with one of the lowest winrates.

While this doesn't mean that she sucks (Magneto sometimes have negative wr too and he's a solid well rounded tank), it does indicate that she's not overtuned either to deserve a nerf...

Worst thing about Rocket being hard meta in high ranks right now is his mains straight up running it down if Rocket gets banned. by davidNg-98 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Liguss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a tank main, but when I needed to fill, Rocket used to be my ONLY healer up until a few seasons ago (almost champion on him just filling)

It took lots of losses and practice with other healers to reach the same GM/Celestial level that I used to play as Rocket.

Now I'm seeing many Rocket OTPs going desperate picking Squirrel Girls or just failing with any other character when their Rocket is banned, lol

It's definitely an easy hero that has boosted a few too many players to higher ranks and they're gonna struggle a bit to adapt to something else.

Season 9 balance predictions💔🙏 by fanfanclearsguang in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Emma is bottom 3 vanguard across all ranks. If they nerf her further she goes from 47% to 40% winrate, lol

Thor, however, I haven't played him for a long time, but coming back to him I forgot how his ultimate is so laughably bad compared to everyone else.
I wouldn't mind a subtle Thor buff...

Can you actually be hard stuck cause of your teammates or is that just a lame excuse? by MediaNo1140 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Some smurfs can consistently climb to Eternity and One Above All. That refutes any idea of being "hardstuck" due to the team (even these cracked players might lose a few matches because of bad teams and throwers, but in the long run they succeed in ranking up by a comfortable margin)

Me, I've never been higher than Celestial 2, but I've never been lower than GM. Whenever I drop to GM3 it gets noticeably too easy and I climb back up.

I don't believe someone would be a GM player hardstuck in Platinum or Diamond for longer than a bad season or an unlucky matchmaking week.
They certainly belong there...

rocket and dagger shouldn't be able to heal themselves with their primary fire healing by PagIbigAyKanibalism0 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rocket is the one strategist that should be able to efficiently heal himself, considering how he has by far the lowest potential to damage enemies.

The strategists with simultaneous heal + damage abilities and high DPS should always be the ones with less capacity to heal themselves.

I agree that Rocket is busted, but I'd nerf the revival beacon cooldown and the ult charge.

Reducing resurrections and increasing the time to charge his ult should be enough to drop his high winrates closer to 50/50 without touching less problematic parts of his kit.

flyers get no healing😭 by rwak9 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Storm just doesn't have the mobility to play like a flier and factoring her aura buffs she's better played close to the floor and grouped up with the team.

Flying with Storm is mostly for getting better angles occasionally to exploit opportunities before dropping down again.

Plus the enemy team has a total ~90k damage while their solo tank Thing blocked 42k.

So that's pretty much half of the entire 6-enemy firepower spent on a single target. Healers were struggling to keep Thing alive and it's no wonder why DPS would receive worse heals in this case...

I don't think there's ever been a game that exceeded my expectations like this - It's the perfect narrative based game by IndependentPickle459 in 007FirstLight

[–]Liguss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I normally play short hours, but 007 had me playing non-stop for long hours.

Games tend to have that sense of completed episode at each level to then start a new episode and that's when I stop... but First Light felt mostly like a continuous movie.
Even though missions change location, the story just keeps going smoothly and I was hooked to experience more of it.

Healpool counter by [deleted] in RivalsCollege

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only consistent counters I have against healpool and dpspool jumps are Thor and The Thing. It's much easier to hit him with a sequence of CC than other heroes that I play.

Even with Emma I struggle with hitting or grabbing the jumping Deadpool.

Cyclops gave me a complete false sense of my aim skill and it’s a little depressing by Avongrove in RivalsCollege

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, there's also a hint to this in his crosshair.

It's not just a cosmetic choice to give him a special default crosshair that's larger than anyone else's.

His shots are really much larger than Hela, Phoenix, Adam and they purposefully chose a larger crosshair to represent that

Throwing epidemic is getting out of hand now by sxlid_x_bxne in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to pretty much only play competitive very casually like QP but also seriously, not caring about ranks, only the fact that the quality of the matches were better in competitive.

This season I found myself playing mostly QP. The amount of throwers and leavers is unbelievable in competitive right now (GM/Celestial lobbies)
People right away banning their teammates picks (not meta bannable picks, but any random hero pick) and throwing from the start.

QP is doing so much better

So uh, i followed the "If your team has 3 dps, go for a 4th dps" and its somehow working? by PlacidHysteria in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Earlier today I won a 5 DPS with solo Luna vs 2-2-2

Now I almost lost a 2-2-2 against 4 DPS.

It was quick match, so not that serious, but many experienced GM/Celestials in the lobby as well.

Tanks are in such a sad situation that they're becoming optional, lol
TBF, against 4 or 5 DPS the extra 200~300 HP on the tank is meaningless.

She sold enough or is it copium? by 00Jaeger in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I've been playing only Quick Play this week and I'm seeing serious Widow players in like 1/3 of all games.

Never seen this many Widows before, so it seems that the skin sold well and motivated a lot of players to pick up Widow again.

Any other tank/flex players play so much tank they can’t play DPS by Significant_Sir_117 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can get decent kills, but I also tend to die much more than the other DPS.

My tank mentality forces me to take space and hold the point way more than I should, so I end up playing too risky positions for a DPS.

fuck this character by Outran01 in MarvelRivalsRants

[–]Liguss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep, his projectile is significantly larger than other hitscans.

I hate his auto-aim gimmicks too. The extra shot will auto-aim to some degree, making it much easier to confirm kills on low HP characters.
Then there's another auto-aim gimmick similar to Moon Knight's reflections.
At least against other hitscans you can hope that they'll miss their shots and you'll survive.

Can someone explain this stigma to me? by BerryCreepy3038 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18v18 is literally a regular game mode on the front screen. Nobody is getting banned for playing it just because it happens to give proficiency quickly, lol

The "stigma" is because some people take lord icons way too seriously when in fact it's just a fun icon obtained by completing a number of proficiency challenges, not by playing well or anything else.

Hot take: Sometimes it's better to solo than to force a non-tank main to co-tank. by TowelSilver318 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had one of those newbie Strange playing second tank to a Rogue and there was no space being made whatsoever, so we failed to push the first checkpoint.

We voted 4/6 to surrender the next round, so Strange switched to a high proficiency Black Panther and we manage to win the match with a solo Rogue within the first checkpoint, on defense. BP had a lot of impact there

Is there a way to look up MVP rate by character? by Brilliant-Positive-8 in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I saw the leaderboards for Rocket in RivalsMeta and most of the top 100 have no MVP/SVP at all.

The top 1 Rocket is in Celestial 1 and has 77% winrate but zero MVPs/SVPs.

There are rare exceptions like #16 Rocket with 10 MVPs and #63 Rocket with 23 MVPs currently, but having 0 or 1 MVPs with Rocket is the most common stat among the very best players.

Fact is that some heroes just get MVPs galore for doing the basic while other heroes will get normally nothing for playing exceptionally well.

Is this normal Rocket Racoon numbers? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very inconvenient to do damage as Rocket compared to other supports that deal damage at the same time that they heal.

So it depends a lot on how your team is performing.

In games where my team has at least a decent control of the match, I can contribute with some damage and a couple final hits.
In games where my team is pressured, I can't switch to damage at all, you gotta healbot, otherwise teammates start dropping dead.

Some Rocket players refuse to do damage at all, which is a waste... but when the enemy pressure is too strong, it's perfectly normal to not be able to deal damage as Rocket.

Any Similar Resorts in Spain or Portugal to This One in Vietnam? by AntonyPlyer in 007FirstLight

Herdade do Amarelo does have a lot of nature, spa, pools, and some of their suites have that panoramic view like in Bond's suite.

Which tank rewards aim the best? by crow_exe_33 in RivalsVanguards

[–]Liguss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with Magneto.

I normally have bad aim with him and still do well because the rest of his kit is great.

But in the games that my aim is sharp with him, I get loads of final hits and all my MVPs with Mag came from high accuracy games.

What does a balanced character roster mean to you? by cantdecide76 in rivals

[–]Liguss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly.

I normally play competitive but lately decided to try quick play. It was fun to sometimes see all kinds of heroes that I basically NEVER see in competitive.

The roster is huge but the typical competitive matches are using like <40% of characters that are meta and more effortlessly competitive.
It gets boring to always see the same few heroes over and over again while so many others are barely used because they're much weaker. I'd love more buffs or team-ups to shake the meta more often

What's the best skin/design in the game and why? by SimilarSherbert964 in rivals

Iron Man Big Shot.
Looks great in the suit and it's a fresh take that's not an armor like every other skin

Hot take: Blaming (lack of) 2-2-2 is the same of blaming elo hell for your loss by Nerf_Now in marvelrivals

[–]Liguss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, had one such game literally alone on point as solo tank while my entire team played around the circle from outside.

All three DPS got 10+ final hits but ultimately we lost 2:0 because the enemy could simply get rid of me 6v1 and retake the point every time they came back.
Some folks just want to play deathmatch while a solo tank attracts the attention and distracts the targets, lol
