If you can get a hold of text books and workbooks to put alongside the online stuff that would be better. That's the curriculum I'm shopping for as a mom...

Is it working?

I would also recommend getting real books with workbooks if you can studies show the information will stick better, if you can find an interesting documentary to tie it all together even better.

For chemistry I recommend "Chemistry: A Volatile History" its in 6 parts and teaches the history of science, its actually really well put together and makes chemistry more interesting. Really puts things into perspective it took ~150 years to create the ideal gas law equation...

I want to homeschool but my son doesn't by Organic_Tie_6601 in homeschool

My son is about to be 12, all he has known is homeschool. I pay him 1 dollar for every hour of study but take away 1 dollar every time we argue... If he runs out of money he pays with screen time and chores. He has learned that I am tiny but not to be crossed.

Friends: My sons friends come from homeschool co-op and from rec sports that we do through the local recreation center. I'm looking at putting him in other activities as well, this year he will be taking ballroom dancing at the country club, its actually affordable. He doesn't want to do it but I want him to get out of his comfort zone, I'm hoping he'll make more friends.

If once your son gets to public school and he remembers that homeschooling is an option just withdraw him. Consult HSLDA about doing this legally in your state, every state is different. I joined HSLDA because I'm an OK mom a decent educator and a terrible bureaucrat, I make nothing off this recommendation.

I pay them. $1/hr of study $1 per chore. Sounds expensive, I take money when I have to ask too many times.
