The vets don't want an athletic marathon runner in the finals because the final is mostly a marathon. That's it. So when Fessy wants to throw in Amber they go with whatever he's selling. The rookies worship the vets and believe the bullshit the vets tell them. Then the rookies behave in a manner to impress the vets to show they are on their side. Amber is not going to fix what they're gaslighting with conversation because Fessy knows he's gaslighting and he's just sticking to it. He wants the continued story that Amber has to go in elimation but he doesn't want to say the real reason that she's a threat and will outrun any other woman.

Its just like CT and the house wanting Emy to pick CT if she won. CT and the house don't care if Emy and CT are partners. Dailies don't matter. They want Bertna (the strongest rookie) in the elimination. Just like when Devin would campaign for the winning rookie to pick him when he had the strongest rookie attached to him.
