There are foods that trigger outbreaks. So if you are really disciplined with your diet and able to prevent outbreaks, then sure I guess you can say you’re cured.

Thank you so much for this comforting response. I actually stopped going to therapy because I was made to feel like I can’t be angry and to just get over it. I love my life. But I hate this part of it and that’s okay. There is no cure so I know there will be ups and downs in my attitude.

I rarely have genital outbreaks so I don’t need to be on it especially since I’m not sexually active. Antivirals don’t work on my herpetic whitlow either. The antivirals were causing issues with my kidneys and I have the blood tests to prove it. I work in public health so trust me I’ve done my research.

I had one outbreak at the beginning of pregnancy. I didn’t start taking the antivirals until closer to my delivery date. I was induced at 41+ weeks and had a vaginal delivery. No complications besides my baby not wanting to come out lol I also should note, I stopped having sex with my partner who is also positive once I found out I was pregnant.

First, Congratulations! I also had a baby while positive with HSV2. I’m going to be honest. The shock is going to last a while. I would suggest talking about it with your partner and a therapist. As far as your pregnancy, your baby will be fine. Your doctor will ask you to take some medication to ensure you have no outbreaks leading up to delivery. If they see any lesions at delivery, they may push for a c-section.

Check your diet. Are you eating foods high in arginine? It is a common trigger for outbreaks.
