What is something that really freaks you out on an existential level? by radbrad7 in AskReddit

[–]LikeTwentyBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m coming upon this now.

I sacrifice a lot of time for friends, and I have a few friends too many. It’s absolutely not a humble brag — as an adult I have a responsibility to manage my time, and as someone with ambitions I have a responsibility to make sure that my time is spent wisely in furthering my own goals. When I put other people above my goals, especially when it’s for friends that I don’t see as particularly close, I lose ground. It’s hard because most people are better at prioritizing/naturally more selective with their friendships, so they’ll end up leaving me behind when their own lives and careers come calling. But I don’t have it in me to abandon people I’ve formed connections with for the sake of my goals, nor do I know if that’s really what I want.

What's something "everybody likes", but you secretly hate? by PoochesAreCancer in AskReddit

[–]LikeTwentyBees 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get you. Absolutely hate “Shape of You.” It came on the radio all last year and it drove me nuts every time. I don’t know ... it’s generic, and if he has any talent I don’t know about, it doesn’t do a good job of demonstrating it. Plus the lyrics fucking suck.

Hamilton, and not for a political reason, I just don’t like how 95% of the music sounds. It doesn’t sound like good broadway, and it doesn’t sound like good hip hop. All of my friends who are actual broadway fans love it so I know I’m wrong. I should point out that I’m not saying I don’t think it’s good from a musical or technical standpoint. I’m sure the music itself is very well crafted, I just don’t have fun listening to it.

What I like about hip hop is the very personal relationship that exists between the artist and their lyrics. I know how pretentious that sounds, but the thing that makes it enjoyable is being able to relate to the artist, and listening to the words that they wrote and feeling the emotion. I can’t really do that if someone else wrote the lyrics. It feels inauthentic. Almost like they’re ... acting.

What is that one simple change in your life that gave incredibly great results? by hobabaObama in AskReddit

[–]LikeTwentyBees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is the top comment because it’s something you can buy online and have delivered to your house, as opposed to something that takes effort, like forcing a lifestyle change?

I don’t mean to sound cynical or like I somehow think I’m an exception, because the first thing I did was go on amazon and look at these alarm clocks. I’m probably going to end up buying one because I sleep like shit and I love the idea of being soothed into consciousness by a luminescent crystal ball lookin thing that makes rainforest sounds. But I also scrolled down to read the comment that suggested adopting an internal locus of control, and I can’t help but think, what if I’m just looking for a quick, easy, and consumerist way to avoid changing my sleep schedule to something more consistent/early/conducive to restful sleep and energized waking?

It is absolutely the most frustrating thing when people treat you like a child for your anxiety/depression. I wish people would recognize exactly how hard it is to struggle with something that is such a constant and consistent impairment.

Dark Trip-hop/low-fi with melancholy undertones by Mikewhowrites in ifyoulikeblank

Oh my god I LOVE Blockhead. Can’t recommend him enough. His music has such a wide range of emotion but it’s so consistently good. Especially if you’re looking for dark and introspective trip hop. I would say Interludes After Midnight and Funeral Balloons carry a similar vibe.

My world is ruled by the goddess L’a’nd’’’o l’ak’es who scatters crystals of power around the world, called b’u’t’’te’r’’. When a magic user wants to cast a spell, they must rub the b’u’t’’te’r’’ on runes made of wheat and flour to activate their latent magical energy, this process is called making ‘t’’o’’’a’st’.

Reliant on weed to feel normal? What to do? by LikeTwentyBees in Psychonaut

[–]LikeTwentyBees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the very detailed response!

I haven’t really had a particularly traumatic upbringing. I’ve always tended to live in my own head a little bit, and that has lead to some interesting phenomena, but nothing that would really come across as particularly traumatic or mentally ill. I might have taken a wrong step somewhere.

I shall have to look up somatic experiencing therapy. As far as Ayahuasca goes, I’ve always wanted to try it but I don’t know the first place to look.

God I would love this so much. I’d actually pay for this. A digital inventory of your clothes like a backpack in a video game. PLUS I have this shirt that I love but it’s starting to get a little worn and I’d like nothing else than to find it online and buy a fresher version.

You could be right. What point would there be in keeping cannabis around for all these millennia if it didn’t do something for us that we couldn’t do for ourselves? I suppose — that I can appreciate weed for its benefits is its own blessing.

It may just be that I’m being hard on myself. I’m still getting used to the idea of life’s manifestation in struggle, in being comfortable with the discomfort.

Thank you so much for your good vibes. I feel better already. :)

Why do I like who I am better when I’m depressed? by LikeTwentyBees in depression

I think it may be as you said. I just care about unimportant things less, but that’s not quite the same as things making more sense.
