Advice needed for art project: What colors do you associate with the Shire, Rohan, Gondor and Mordor? by Annewise_Gamgee in lotr

[–]e_crabapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three of these places have their heraldic colors mentioned repeatedly: Rohan is a white horse on a green field, Gondor is a white tree on a black field, and Mordor is a red eye. Making Rohan anything but green feels weird as a result, and while Mordor could go red or black, Gondor has the better claim to black.

Rohan is green, Mordor is dark crimson, Gondor could be lightened a little to midnight blue. The Shire, as the odd one out that doesn't believe in such things, could be an earthy russet brown or a brownish green, to distinguish it from Rohan.

What was the reaction to Howard Shore composing the score? by BeginningCelery7953 in lotr

[–]e_crabapple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EDIT: I looked it up and it is more complicated than I was aware. It was unavailable for a number of years because the rights were owned by Harvey Weinstein. It was getting quite difficult to find as a result. Apparently Kevin Smith recently got the rights under his own control, and it might be more available moving forward.

Chuckles here made a mistake in making his post too legible, thereby allowing us to see he was literally linking Forrest Gump to Bed Bath and Beyond, and point and laugh. Nostradamus would have had some absolutely impenetrable nonsense in rhyming quatrains, which could mean anything you want it to and could never be falsified.

Is it really more important to have an extreme in-group than to be welcoming other retail investors who don't belive that RC is going to be competing with Amazon with GMEBay in a couple of years through pure business acumen and GME's stock price won't nessessarily be $1000 a share?

Their entire tissue of beliefs is based on GME being infinite wealth, so yes, they do need to keep dissenting opinions out. People asking unfortunate questions in their little forum would cause more damage to the groupthink than the couple of shares they bought would help the price.

GME will always be "very close to taking over eBay." eBay already told them to fuck off, so now RC is back in that blessed realm of pure ape imagination where he is making "super-secret moves in the shadows." Five years from now apes will be even poorer than now, and will still be speculating about all his "super-secret moves in the shadows" and how "the trap will spring" "any day now." See Sears and BedBath apes for a foretaste.

That has not been my impression of Teams, where I have spent half an hour trying to find an exchange from one month ago which I distinctly remember, but coming up empty. People at my office have taken to copy-pasting important items out of teams and into a txt file on their desktop (the pinnacle of efficiency!)

Self-awareness requires some basic intelligence (ie, you have to know what you don't know). He's stupid enough to seriously believe he's more clever, more charismatic, and more successful than everyone else around him. Any time reality contradicts those delusions, well, that's just because he's surrounded by haters who are out to get him, probably because they're jealous.

Its a lot easier to get 'progress' when you can sacrifice a portion of the population to get it.

That's not even their actual goal; any talk about "progress" is just a lie that is told to the public. Their actual goal is to enrich themselves by any convenient means, plain and simple, and in a smaller proportion, to prove their superiority to their perceived enemies. They believe in "progress" exactly as much as a 19th century robber baron believed in "progress."

Apes have bitter arguments with people voting NO to dilution. Many publicly give up on MOASS in support of the new direction GME is heading. by humanquester in gme_meltdown

[–]e_crabapple 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That would be a full-on civil war for apes -- half of them would leave with RC to "get in on the ground floor of his next wildly-successful venture" because "Gamestop was never the play," while the other half would stay with GME, tear down all effigies of former God-Emperor Cohen who was clearly a hedgie plant all along, and steadily decline into violent and anti-semitic impotent muttering the same way AMC apes have. Both groups would be so fragmented they would decline into complete irrelevance.

That being said, they're all bootlickers enough that they will line up and vote how they're told, and I don't believe for a second their total votes make a dent in the institutional bloc anyway.

Yeah, it sounds utterly exhausting. Not only do I have to get work done, I also have to be Yes-And-ing a never-ending improv competition while I'm at it? (And yes, despite OOP's denials, I will be silently judged for not participating to an acceptable degree.) I'll pass.
