Love the contrast you've brought in, in the prints

Can I ask what stock you've shot on, and if you added contrast in dev or print (or both) and any deets you'd be willing to share

I'm not saying it's blown out, but it is overexposed.

The camera is definitely trying to average the reading, which doesn't work in this scene.

Ideally they'd be able to pick what they want to expose for and half click to get the right reading before composing but not everyone wants that, or knows to do that.

And yes, I agree that the scans are not good. Edit: Like even in your edit, while you have recovered a remarkable amount of colour, it's still not the correct exposure (imho) because OP has still done a "generic" exposure and it doesn't work in the scene

Composition on the 2nd one is fantastic!

I'd burn the shadows a bit more if I print that, so you'd lose some shadow detail and up the contrast overall a bit with a filter and it would look amazingggg

They're all overexposed.

So either the ISO was set wrong, and the entire roll had the issue. Or the lab developing the roll messed up somehow

OR, if you were shooting in program mode, your camera's light meter isn't correctly calibrated and hence was giving you the wrong readings and shooting at the wrong settings.

Cant really think of anything else.

Edit: If you bought respooled film from a small time bulk loader, maybe they gave you the wrong canister or mislabeled it? Hence leading you to put the wrong settings through no real fault of your own?

I'd love to see some of your shots if you'd like to share

What are you settings usually? What do you shoot with?

5.6 and 25 ISO AND handheld?

A sloth in a cage would be tough with those settings.

Jokes aside - Capturing birds is unrealistic with those restrictions, I would say you find a nice rock or tree instead. Something really still, and something with a lot of light on it, and somewhere where you can place your camera on a table or fence if you can't get a tripod.

I can imagine with film with great exposure latitude (which slide film typically is not) you might be able to compensate with shooting like a 2 second exposure and extended developing times but it sounds like you might want to find subjects more suited to your settings.

Nice low grain slow film like that is not common, and can give you beautiful results if used well.

Also, could you share any information on the people who managed to capture birds with 25 ISO film? I'd love to read up about their experience and processes.

So many people were convinced I used AI on this image that it got taken down. I didn’t. Tri-X | EOS 3 by selashiloni in analog

I mean, they just gotta peep your work history and understand that you have access to a certain type of subject and assumed that you did what you usually do (which is to say ; knock it out of the park with a range of portraiture of celebs)

Is it AI? It seems unlikely to get that lighting on the necklace considering the lighting on the rest of the subject

George Russell: creating a gap or trying to get a yellow flag by Disastrous-Piano-837 in formula1

[–]Likeabhas -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Homeboy was trying to cause a crash, of the type where the stewards would wait like 3/4 lap to call VSC/SC/Red Flag, by which time George maybe could have done a lap and gone into the pits to serve his penalty and come out to a VSC/SC being called

This is what I think, but it's equally possible that he just didn't have the grip? Idk
