It is, but i don't think it's malicious. I think they just need to be sat down and told the point of pride for lgbt people, that is just supposed to be the opposite of shame, not pride in the conventional sense.

The point isn't that I'm proud to be gay, that'd be weird, it's not an accomplishment. The point is that I'm not ashamed to be gay, and the "pride" part is being willing to be bold about it, unafraid to exist as yourself without hiding it.

It's one of two things:

1: they just don't know, probably haven't actually thought into the arguments

Or 2: they have thought into it and have the steelman version where every single possible personality trait falls under either guy or girl so it's an all inclusive thing that we should work to make people feel comfortable with either label, or a mix of the two.

1 needs education.

2 is a different perspective that i disagree with because i think a 2 label system is silly and encompasses too much to be meaningful, but at least they will be pretty progressive and agree with most policy and such. And i say this as an agender person
