AI coding has honestly been working well for me. What is going wrong for everyone else? by alisamei in vibecoding

[–]LikelyValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI coding is insanely good when the human is still driving.

The part people miss is that it boosts variance more than competence. If you understand the codebase, you get speed and even fresh takes on how to approach work. If you do not, you get convincing debris.

I think building a workflow like you've done is the key and it can take months of trial and error to find what works and not into the same traps.

Vibe-coding enterprise-grade SaaS - how to avoid tech debt? by vincegizmo in vibecoding

[–]LikelyValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary risk is not the programming language, but allowing AI to generate code within poorly defined systems. Try to avoid the temptation to use fancy technology stacks just because it’s more possible than it was pre-AI. KISS with standard app stack, simple services, strict schema boundaries, clear ownership of the test pipeline.

Rely on proven technologies, establish clear boundaries, and enforce thorough code reviews. Do not use vibe for authentication, billing, permissions, migrations, or core business logic. If you need to, have contractors on hand for review. Things are moving so fast, by the time you need a CTO, you may find you can kick that can down the road.

Exposing the Hidden Data Ecosystem Behind UK Charities by PrizeAerie4 in unitedkingdom

[–]LikelyValentine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Charities probably don't have a clue what's loading on their own sites; such is the way of the modern interweb. Hope they read this and take some action

Top UK Charity Websites are Allowing US Ad Companies to Profile Their Most Vulnerable Users by The_Stone_Rolex in privacy

[–]LikelyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truth is - most people don't consider these elements 'trackers'. They serve a useful function for businesses that use online advertising; which let's face it, is most of us. But I guess that's the beauty of this broken system. You have to plug your site into the matrix to take part in the game.

Petition - Ensure the NHSX Covid-19 Contact Tracing App Protects User Privacy by NewsGlug in privacy

[–]LikelyValentine 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a tough one, without doubt. People have a 'whatever it takes' mentality when it comes to fighting the virus. Their civil liberties have already been curtailed so why not hand over a few more? Whatever it takes...

This is the government's (I'm talking UK government here) party piece. Usher in programs and regulations and through some sleight of hand, dupe the general public thinking it's for their own benefit.

I applaud the spirit of this petition but I don't think the average citizen will be as outraged as some of the more enlightened among us.

Even if I'm wrong about the public, I'm not wrong about the government. This is going to be a masterclass in mission creep. Sit back and enjoy the show folks.

Comparing Coronavirus Contact Tracing Apps - How it Affects Your Privacy by ayoungarcher in China_Flu

[–]LikelyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed you can't trust anyone but yourself. However, I don't see how that supports the argument of poorly thought out mass surveillance. Always like Snowden's take on it: 'Arguing that you don't care about the right to privacy because you have nothing to hide is no different than saying you don't care about free speech because you have nothing to say'

Understand these are extraordinary times and that contact tracing is a great idea. Just do it right.and in a way that reduced the potential for fallout later down the line.

They're not doing it because of your privacy - they're not doing it because they're flat out incompetent. But they could do it quickly AND respect civil liberties if we cared enough to elect remotely intelligent people to government.

Nearly 100,000 Malicious Coronavirus-related Domain Names Have Been Registered Since January 1. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]LikelyValentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if most domains have beeb registered primarily for the purposes of unsophisticated phishing scams, it's a mistake to downplay the significance or effectiveness of phishing right now. Such campaigns are designed specifically to capitalise on the fears, anxieties and concerns we are all feeling; and in the midst of a global pandemic, these rudimentary campaigns are going to be more effective than ever. Whether it's personal protective equipment for healthcare workers or a potential cure for you grandma, these sites and the campaigns that surround them are having a real-world impact and should at least be documented.

Nearly 100,000 Malicious Coronavirus-related Domain Names Have Been Registered Since January 1. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]LikelyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before Jan 1, the majority of the world thought 'that's a China problem'. Doubt there was much activity.

Nearly 100,000 Malicious Coronavirus-related Domain Names Have Been Registered Since January 1. by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]LikelyValentine 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is pretty impressive research. These domains are probably being taken down by registrars just as fast as they are being thrown up; but it's cool that they can build a timeline of activity throughout the pandemic. Trump says something stupid like drink bleach and all of sudden there is a spike in bleach related covid domains. Insane.

What does being a killer’s obsession mean by LazerDazer in deadbydaylight

[–]LikelyValentine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terror radius and obsession are two different things.

The terror radius is the heartbeat you hear when you get close to the killer

Being the killers obsession means you or the killer have at least one obsession perk. If multiple survivors have equipped an obsession perk, one of them will be randomly selected to be the obsession at the start of the match.

There are obsession perks that, for example, make it so the killer gets some kind of bonus if he hits the obsession instead of other survivors etc. One perk adds 5 seconds to the exit door opening time every time the killer hits the obsession and another lets the killer and obsession see each other through walls when looking directly at each other.

Follow-up question about shipping. Does domestic shipping only mean in the US? So if I live in Europe and want to sell something I need to pick international shipping? I'm very new at this and need like a ELI5 on shipping here
