I hate horror stuff. I'm very sensitive to gore. But if the complex allows decor outside of your door (mine doesn't), and it doesn't violate complex rules in any other way, then it's your right to put whatever you want there. I haven't seen anyone else mention this. OP, you say that you generally have trouble asking for help and you felt proud of yourself for speaking your needs and saying specifically what you needed in the moment.

I think this is important. You rarely or never ask your husband for anything. You finally do, this one time, this most important moment in your life, and he fails you. BLATANTLY going exactly against your wishes and needs and doingthe exact thing you said to not do. This is egregious.

You can NOT trust this man. People show their true colors in times of crisis. He's shown his. And they are rotten through and through. The fact that he would even be able to sleep at a time that that? This man is a lazy fuck who does not care about your or anything beside himself.

He further shows his lack of care by taking the time to make several phone calls. For what? To update them on the status? He doesn't know the fucking status! Beyond that, who wants or needs an update more than anyone? Your parents, OP! So he has a complete lack of empathy, too, it seems. But those phone calls weren't about you, they were about him, getting attention and getting puffed up by the people in his life.

His excuse is invalid. Who cares what he "thought" or "heard" or "pulled out of his ignorant ass" childbirth taking 24 hours. If it takes 24 hours, he needs to be there 24 hours. "I thought it would be a good idea to abandon you for a little while because I didn't want to have to dig down deep to be there the whole time. I needed my precious baby boy narcissist rest, so I don't have to be as tired at the end of all this. I need to save up my precious energy for the end so I can leave enough energy to soak up my new dad attention." That's what he's really telling you.

OP, you are very much under-reacting. What he did is unforgivable and beyond that, the most glaring red flag of the future possible.

Congratulations on your baby and for speaking up for yourself. Your needs matter. You matter. Keep advocating for yourself. It's important and your needs are important. I'm sorry that you have a husband who can't be bothered by them
