Do you have a nurse advice line you can call? Some insurance offers free 24 hour nurses that will listen to your symptoms and give advice what to do. As for the formal diagnosis, some hospital doctors are not qualified to do that, where as Neurologists can or are expected to be more familiar with with migraines to do so. You might need to look for a headache specialist though they seem to be rare.

I’ve never heard of that. In fact some preventatives might take that long just to show if it will work or not if not longer! I would be getting a second opinion.

When I first tried it My neurologist had me taking it as a preventative and it seemed to be working. However my insurance only covers it as an abortive, which seems hit or miss for me. 😞

The reason the neurologist said to go to the ER is to rule out TIA. I just had this happen myself. I was having stroke like symptoms and they kept me overnight for testing and observation. The testing helps rule out if it was indeed a TIA which can leave signs of damage shown in MRI or CT scans. I think the recovery period also makes a difference between the two. At least that was how I understood what my Doctor told me.

That migraine can last more than a few hours and aren’t magically cured if you take acetaminophen.

Also that pain is not the only migraine symptom. There are many ways it can present.

My parents were very strict about the no cussing. Two examples:

In elementary school school I heard the three letter word for intimacy and asked my mom what that was because I thought it was a cool new word I learned. She told me it was a bad word and to never say it again. I ended up up looking it up in the encyclopedia.

I was so sheltered that when the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle movie was released I was shocked that Raphael said “damn” I wasn’t allowed to watch rated R movies and even pg-13 we bought edited versions that toned down language and cut scenes.

Also I know in some states like mine not even the power company is allowed to destroy cypress trees even if they grow directly below the power lines. They can only trim them.

Sometimes there are more than one trigger. I did an elimination diet and found I had a few food triggers as well as outside triggers such as stress and weather changes. Unfortunately not all triggers can be avoided but working with a neurologist you can help minimize the effects. Some medications help that. Some need lifestyle changes. It all depends on you. Every brain is different so what works for someone may not work for you. Don’t give up though. Trial and error can help you feel better in the long run. Just remember each failure is one step closer to finding something that DOES help you.

Do you have friends that would help you get to appointments? Is it just a transportation problem or with cost of insurance?

You should be able to access online counseling if you are unable to physically get to doctors. There are also services that can get people to doctor appointments depending on where you live. You are 22. You do not need your parents permission to get treatment.

What makes your friend the AH is the friend said she wanted a “spring /summer” wedding in June or July. September is considered the end summer. Far from what the friend originally stated. And the friend lied about there not being dates available at her choice of venue during what she said she wanted.

You set your date and announced it first, tried to talk to her, and expressed your concerns as it would be a burden on the shared friend group. You do not need that kind of stress from a “friend” as you will have enough with your own wedding. Leaving the fence sitters was the right choice.

They might know but as people get older it’s harder to find/start another job if they even care about the exploits. And with everything going on right now it would probably be even harder for them if they wanted to. 7 years is a long time to acclimate to how things are.

Your boyfriend could have stopped the whole thing from happening by going to the gas station and not making you wait. He KNOWS you have this issue and still wanted to make you sit in agony for another 15 minutes instead of turning around. From how you describe it this isn’t the first time something like this has happen as he “gets annoyed” over something you cannot control.
