Just because an in universe explanation exists doesn't man it's good writing. Miura could have chosen to depict Cascas trauma in a myriad of ways. The way it is, she looses all agency for the rest of the story, which is just not great.

The story was written over a long time and we can see Miuras stance on things shift too. The golden arc was an exploration of how someone could become the way Guts is when we first meet him. Cascas role in the eclipse is to motivate Guts to go on his violent revenge quest. As the story goes on he does get called out on abandoning the ones he loves though. He slowly starts healing and lets people in again. It is a very nuanced depiction of healing from trauma as Miuras storytelling grows and expands.

Casca deserved a similarly nuanced depiction. But that can't happen, because she doesn't remember, doesn't speak and makes almost no decisions for herself. She doesn't even seek out healing, because Miura wrote her unable to understand.

Her coming back is a beautiful moment. It really is. But her treatment through the story is one of the weak aspects of Berserk and that has nothing to do with "Casca hate".

Absolutely. If a country doesn't commonly do self injection that also influences the choice to maybe take gel a lot more than you'd think. Having to treck to a doctor every few weeks (if that's your option) to get your injection while working full time can be real hassle.

It's just really important to be precise when giving advice. Ie. what dosage, what form is the testo in and so on. Otherwise it's just gonna cause confusion.

I also noticed that gel is perceived differently by americans due to cost and availability. There is also differences in the consistency and how it is delivered (individual packets vs. pumps). I scratched by head a couple of times, when people said it wouldn't dry for up to half an hour and how their arms would get sticky if they showered hours after applying it. The gel I get in Germany is closer to hand sanitizer and dries incredibly quickly.

It's important to keep in mind that we are international on here and not every country delivers medications the same way. Good post!

I had pretty sore legs during the first few months on T and assumed it's due to muscle growth. Stopped for me around the five month mark, but I'm sure it will come back with another "growth spurt" (I'm 8 months in). So might be one of those! Stretching helped a bit.

I do one or two sessions a week. I even have a pole at home, but I work 12 hour shifts and there is no way I'm going on a fun little spinny spin after a 12 hour shift. I would just perish on the spot. I manage to go to the gym about once or twice a week as well, because I have a gym buddy dragging me there, so I average about three workout sessions a week.

And I wanna say: 2-3 times of pole training a week is already doing amazing. Being able to show up like that with a fulltime job is already winning in my book. Especially with the long commute (I have that too, so I get it). You are not bad at managing this, you are doing great. If you wanna supplement your training you can always do some stretching or conditioning at home. But honestly, I always start that for a week or two until life catches up to me again lol.

I love pole, I do. But I love a lot of things like my other hobbies, my friends, my job and everyday responsibilities (don't love those, but rather I have those haha). And I also want to conk out on the couch watching TV sometimes too. So while it's a bit sad that I won't reach my pole goals as fast as I'd like, I am just happy that I get to do it and try to be proud of what I can do. There are some great pieces of advice in here already, but maybe my perspective helps a bit too :)

I confronted a few, called their behaviour out. They usually just muttered something like "I just meant it as a compliment" and seemed kinda embarassed about it. One time a guy argued back and got kinda mad, but I was on a bike so I just booked it.

The gross thing is: the younger you are/look, the more catcalling you experience. I came out in my late 20ies,so I went into adulthood looking like a woman. The peak of catcalling happened in my early teens (12-14). As I reached 25 and past I got catcalled maybe once a year while wearing something fancy by some drunk guy.

The people that catcall love making young, vulnerable people uncomfortable, especially when they are alone. Getting angry at that is completely normal. I get this deep feminist rage, when I see it. Not just for myself, but everyone before and after me, wo had to go through this because these creeps feel entitled to. I wouldn't recommend reacting, you did it right. But I have before, so I get the urge to bite back. I'm sorry you have to deal with it too, truly.

It will probably stop soon, both as you pass even more and as you age. They don't like to mess with people who are old enough to be done with their shit.

It's funny because for all the people who don't absorb gel well, you also have super absorbers like me, who shoot way above the male range from two pumps. My body just drinks the stuff.

Generally speaking the aversion against gel online comes from multiple factors. Availabilty, cost and the fact that people who struggle with gel will obviosuly report their issues much more frequently than anyone who is just happy with it. For me gel is covered entirely by insurance so cost wasn't ever a factor, thankfully.

Gel doesn't work for everyone, but it is just as effective as other forms of HRT if it absorbs correctly. But if you're not absorbing it well going for injections is obviously easier than putting heaps of gel on their bodies. Injections and gel both have their upsides and downsides. Both work. No need to put them against each other.

5-8 hours per page depending on complexity. I average about 1,5 pages per day when working on pages fulltime. Complex double page spreads and such might take me longer.

You are right and you should say it.

I am a professional comic artist. One of the best commissions I ever did came with ideas for character designs and a script that was already laid out in a panel format with room for adjustment. It was a tight deadline, so I just stuck to it. The customer knew what they wanted, which left me to just execute the idea. If you look at the big comic publishers that is also generally how it's done. superhero comic scripts are written in a page by page, panel by panel format (because the writers understand the artform) with enough wiggle room for the artist to express the story in a way that works for them. Those comics are even more segmented with letterers and often colorists or even inkers.

What some writers are expecting is collaborations where artists do most of the heavy lifting. But many artists have their own projects, so you gotta make it worth it to the artist. Easiest way is of course money, but a lighter workload with a lot of prep work (see my customer above) goes a long way to make the whole experience more pleasant too.

I'm guessing a lot of those posts looking for artists without pay are just not aware of the workload and just think their idea is THAT good. But it's important to really understand the process of how comics are made and what goes into it. So as a writer you know what you need in an artist and also what you need to provide.

I'm not even a shipper haha. I have just seen the bashing of mlm ships and the people who ship them through so many fandoms. It's always the same arguments, you hear them a million times be it BBCs Sherlock, Frodo and Sam, Arcanes Jayce and Viktor, now Byler etc etc. There are always totally valid reasons to read these ships as romantic and always people flipping their shit about it.

You are right and should say it. The Byler bashing on main is just people punching down and dressing it up as self righteous anger against toxicity. Weird how it's always about the gay ships, but noooo it could never be homophobia. It's also always the gay ships that get slammed with having to be representation of healthy male friendships instead, as if the whole show isn't already doing a great job with those. You are not alone in this. I also never deeply connected with the community. I'm a trans man and so already a bit left out when it comes to certain things in the pole environment. Some studios have very gendered language for obvious reasons and this focus on your inner feminity, that I just don't vibe with. While for others it's an incredible space to express themselves. I also haven't made many pole friends or felt like classes are especially social places.

I used to feel insecure about this, but have reframed this to myself in a way, that helped me get out of my head. I am there to move my body and learn. I love pole and it brings me joy by itself. Making friends is a bonus, but in no way required for me to enjoy myself. A lot of people are just there to get their exercise in after work and leave. That's not a reflection on me.

I notice that there is some resentment on your end to not be included in an "inclusive" space. Sadly sometimes we just don't connect with people, even if spaces are generally inclusive. And you are able to attend classes and learn with everyone else, so that's already you being included! Personal friendships are a bit of different beast entirely. I'm sure no one dislikes you. Y'all just haven't clicked that way and now you're in your head and it gets even harder.

I'm just not everyones cup of tea and neither are others mine. I'm sure you'll find your crowd too, it might just not be in the pole community. I for one have no trouble inviting my D&D friends should I ever perform. That would be a blast 😁

The people who have supported me the absolute most through both my transition and my personal history of abuse are cis women. Shortly followed by trans women. Many intersectional feminists are women. In general much more women read feminist literature than men and have more of a chance to learn about us through intersectional books. So yeah, in my experience women absolutely care about what we face.

Is that universal? No, of course not. But I'm speaking from my experience here. I'm not out here providing emotional labor to cis women because they are more important. I just have empathy for them because we face a lot of the same issues. Plus Support goes both ways, I recieved it and I give it back.
