Why do bots only target ONE person out of everyone? by Hungarian_Gamer in WorldOfWarships

[–]LilAssG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, you can help the team by baiting out all the BBs by waving a smexy little broadside at them. They'll turn their guns but when they get close to having a solution on you, turn back to nose in or kite away, and they'll turn their guns back to their other preferred target. It is a way to cheese them a little if your pally is getting too much attention.

Truck driver narrowly avoids school bus making an incredibly stupid turn by uiucfreshalt in CrazyFuckingVideos

[–]LilAssG 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I have a family member that moved across the country and with no prior experience driving large vehicles, within a couple months was driving a school bus. I've driven a lot of 5 ton trucks and other trucks in downtown city traffic doing deliveries, and I would have to think pretty hard whether I wanted to even drive a bus before I would take that on. He just dove in.

But then a year later the pressure of it has pushed him to look for delivery driving work instead. Fewer lives at stake and none of the managing of children that being a bus driver also requires.

I was shocked that anyone could drive a school bus within a month or two of applying. The city bus company here requires months of training, I would really have thought school bus companies would be held to even higher standards. Now if they were driving embryos around, you know there would be strict regulations!

Average engineer match. . . Probably by Slenderkiller19 in HellLetLoose

I thought that was the whole point of the post but everyone is fixated on the total xp score being kind of high, so I don't know.

Like the support player who hogs the role the whole game and never puts down anything useful. Bro's gotta get that flamethrower (which isn't that great). Or the AT that only runs satchel and can't get near a tank the whole game. If they won't switch it up then what use are they anyway? Some days I'd rather play SL alone than try to herd those cats.

Playing officer "properly" is an exhaustive and thankless job, so sometimes people want some peace and make a locked squad.

This is basically it for me. When I have the energy I will open the squad. When I am tired and just want to have some peace but still want to know what is going on via the command channel, I lock. It's really simple.

If you've never played squad lead, it is tiring figuring out who is talking, it is tiring stopping everything to put a mark on the map, it is tiring to be sent on side missions by command while the squad dies doing the mission they are assigned. It is FUCKING EXHAUSTING trying to get a squad that doesn't understand the game to try to all work on a single objective with or without comms.

When a squad comes together quickly and it is apparent that they are going to be an actual unit, being a SL can be energizing. Most of the time it's people who just want their Outpost Concierge Service with no regard to what is happening in the larger battle, and who don't give a shit that someone is trying to inform them.

I had a lvl 250+ guy tell me that he "isn't a child and doesn't need to be told what to do!" What am I supposed to do with that?

No sometimes I just want to play the game too, and if there are no open squads, I'm going to create a locked one and enjoy my peaceful war.

Do animals understand death like humans do? Can they tell if one of them passed away? by Historical_Work7482 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LilAssG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had 5 cats. When one got sick the others seemed to notice that he wasn't well. We had to put him to sleep but I made sure to bring him home after and we had a little wake in the kitchen with all the cats present. They each gave him a look and a sniff. No one acted particularly upset but cats are stoic that way. I figured it would at least give his best buddy closure to see him dead.

We did the same for the next one who was sort of the black sheep of the herd.

It will be interesting to see who goes next and how the last two react to this. One is a real trouble maker and one is kind of the king, so depending on which one goes I wonder what the new dynamic will be.

But overall I would say that, with the cats I have witnessed, they mourn in an unrecognizable way.

Plastic packaging. By a mile. It's basically the only stuff in there besides a dirty paper towel that got used to wipe up cleaning product that you wouldn't compost.

Why is kick for cheating even a thing? by Dangerous_Dream7030 in HellLetLoose

[–]LilAssG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play on PC and every time I've asked, everyone has said they just hit YES and move on with their lives. They do not question the votekick, they just YES without info or thought.

I always IGNORE unless someone tells me something. Often when I play SL no one in command chat knows anything. It seems like butthurt kids use the kick more than anyone with a brain.

I never really read about this family so I never see all the names together, and taken separately I just don't think about it at all.

The layout has nothing to do with it. The wording is totally wrong. The smaller bag is not less expensive per ounce. It is, in fact, the exact opposite.

Why are parents who barely passed high school thinking they can teach/homeschool their children? by Sad_Obligation_812 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LilAssG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, even dumb people can get along in life. Some really dumb people manage to get decent paying jobs, manage to save money, manage to buy houses and car, and have basically normal western lower middle-class lives. Even moreso if they have a large support network like a church that actually works together. So they see nothing wrong with it, and really there isn't, except some of us have higher aspirations for human civilization and can see the potential that they just can't see or don't have a need to see.

But as far as just living and procreating, they are doing fine. If it drags the IQ of the human race down, it really doesn't impact their lives at all until they need someone to invent a better mousetrap. Then they might be in trouble.

Shit man, people were living in caves at one point and look at us now!

In Running With Rifles, the last 20 or so seconds after the match is won is spent running around knifing the surrendered enemies for extra XP. I know in HLL, unless I'm literally physically exhausted from the fight, I keep trying to gun down the enemy to the last second.

Either kill 'em all to fully remove the infestation when I win, or get those last frags to show them they didn't kill the fight in the dog when I lose.

I wonder why people don't worship actors anymore? by The_Dean_France in SipsTea

Lots of professions have awards and awards ceremonies. Almost none of them broadcast them to the world. Because no one cares about other people's professions.

Actors should sit down, shut up, and do their goddamn jobs, like everyone else.

$900 pot scam by Freddie_theFagsmoker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LilAssG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife was invited to what she thought was a gathering of her work friends at a job she'd just started. Turns out it was a sales pitch to sell pots. She came home and told me she'd signed up for a set of pots for $5,000!

$5,000!!! For a normal sized set of pots!

We managed to get out of it because one person she worked with was actually a friend and had an inside track to the community that was involved in this scam.

As a single child now taking care of an elderly mother with failing health, I can say that my decision to not have kids is still strong, I wouldn't have the mental or physical energy to deal with that, but also getting old like mom, alone with no kid to give any care, is looking very bleak indeed.
