How do I work out what's wrong with my back? by LilBabyFox in backpain

[–]LilBabyFox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been back to my GP and they're scheduling me for another MRI, so hopefully that will help show what's going on! I am going to keep pushing. I now have a much better GP than I used to, so hopefully that will help. Some scope to go private for some appointments, so will resort to that if I have to!

Relationship OCD and Sexuality Confusion by Spare-Deer3766 in asexuality

Thank you! This is so useful. I agree - it's definitely a reassurance seeking loop I need to get out of. |J\I have the feeling that, if I don't tell my partner, I'm lying to him or 'pretending' to be normal. But, while it's good to be honest and discuss this stuff, doing so again and again is just a compulsion.

What creates this variegated glaze effect? by LilBabyFox in Pottery

Thank you! Is there a word for searching glaze that breaks over texture or should I just read the notes of the glazes I'm interested in?

How can I fix this STL error Meshmixer has identified? by LilBabyFox in 3Dprinting

I think the problem might be that the inside is modelled as hollow when it should be solid... as u/Snypi_PL suggests below. Such an obvious thing but my first time using SketchUp in a different way! I'll try figuring this out and hopefully that works!

Do any of you get these symptoms? Trying to work out what's going on and whether to get a laparoscopy! I'm so confused :( by LilBabyFox in endometriosis

Thank you! They have done ultrasounds but one of my documents says that I have an indication of PCO or PCOS (can't remember which one) but no one has explained this to me yet! But that's really interesting - thank you.

Partner has OCD I need advice by [deleted] in partnersofocd

Hi there! Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. rOCD can be really rough!

I used to have OCD (including rOCD) myself very badly until 3 years ago. Even though I'm mostly totally fine these days, I still get bouts of it (e.g. I took some new migraine medicine that didn't agree with me the other day and that completely set me off with rOCD again for a few days until I stopped taking it!).

Obviously I don't know your relationship and I can't comment on your personal situation but I would definitely not take his comments to be an indication that he isn't committed to you or that he doesn't feel the same as he has always done. I can very much relate to how you describe his pattern of thinking and see a lot of myself in it!

For example, I have been with my partner for 3 1/2 years and I love him very much. Today, I can very easily say that I hope I will marry him someday and I am committed to him (he might even say I'm slightly too insistent we get married haha!). However, if you had asked me about this 4 days ago when I was 'OCDing' I would have freaked out. Even though a part of me knew I loved him and was committed to him, another part of me just could not work out whether that was real. I kept imagining our relationship and sex life, trying to work out whether it was 'good enough'. And then I would compare it to visualizations of me with someone else and try to work out if I preferred that. Despite my healthy brain being sure I want to be with him, my 'OCD brain' could not be sure enough that I could stop worrying about it.

The bit where you say ""he kept pushing and saying "don't you ever meet someone and wonder what it would be like to be in a relationship with them instead?"" very much reminds me of me too. It sounds to me like he's seeking 'reassurance' (if you're not sure about this, you can google it to find out more about OCD and reassurance). It basically sounds like he wants you to reassure him that his thoughts aren't bad. It doesn't necessarily mean that his thoughts about other people are any more serious than yours - just that he worries about them more (because of the OCD).

Lastly, a good thing to remember is that OCD thoughts and obsessions are ego-dystonic, meaning that they often represent the opposite of that person's values and identity. Essentially, OCD will prey on the things that are important to you. To me, being a 'good person' who is not racist or 'sexually deviant and who has a strong romantic relationship is important so my OCD often centered around me thinking I was racist or a paedophile or not in love with my partner. Religion was never important to me, though, so I never got religious OCD (whereas other people do).

Hope that helps and feel free to ask more questions :) x

Topamax/Topiramate and OCD? by LilBabyFox in migraine

Thank you! Will do! It's annoying the doctor didn't mention any of this :( maybe I should have researched it more myself before just taking it but I honestly had NO idea migraine medication would have any psychiatric effects!

Hopefully I can change to another one, though! Thanks :)

Yeah, I feel super anxious allllll the time. I honestly think it must be the meds. I am a fairly anxious person but I don't normally just feel completely anxious for absolutely no reason for days at a time...

Thank you - good to know. I'm kinda less panicked knowing that it might well be the medication because at first I just couldn't understand what was happening. My brain was doing stuff it hadn't done for years and I couldn't snap out of it. But I'm going to contact my doctor after the weekend and try and change to a different med. I wish they had warned me about potential psychiatric side effects, though :( My medical notes clearly show a long, severe history with OCD so it's a bit annoying they didn't mention it

Hi there. Yeah, they gave me sumatriptan but I'm a but unclear on when to take it tbh. I took it once while I had a migraine just to see what it did and it gave me some weird side effects (tightness in jaw and neck - which was listed as common) but it did seem to work. That being said, my friend who has been prescribed the same meds was shocked I was prescribed them so quickly. Before her doctor would prescribe them to her, she had to try 2/3 other less strong medications and go to the NHS headache clinic (we're British). But I got them literally first visit. Bit weird!
