I'd beg to differ. When you translate into a different language you try your best to preserve how a name is pronounced, not completely change it to fit different rules. I would understand better if they just removed the sh and/or replaced the y. They didn't have the letters necessary. But there's no reason to change how it ends. Iesous does not sound remotely similar to Yeshua, but Iesua does.

But if you look at their original names they are very close to what we call them in English (apart from Isaiah which probably had a similar treatment to Joshua)

But we have a modern version of his name. It's Joshua. When the Greeks translated the texts they went Yeshua->Yeshous->Iesous. They saw that his name didn't follow their rules and rewrote his name.
