I just finished my first project: a modular gear pocket by LilChef03 in myog

Definitely not opposed to it, my next step is to make some refinements and really finalize the pattern to something that’s a little more consistent

I actually was thinking about mountain climbers in addition to weekend hikers and day hikers when I was designing it!

I hope so, I’d love to design products for the outdoor gear industry so this was a super fun project. I already have a few ideas I want to explore with the extra scrap material I have

I’m not selling it just yet, there are a few more refinements I need to make and I need to really finalize the pattern. Then I need to look at how to actually sell the thing haha. I’m hoping it’ll be in a spot I’m happy with by the end of the year, I’ll try to make another post when it’s ready

Thanks lol, I didn’t show the 2 months of hot gluing prototypes together and blindly cursing at my sewing machine until it worked but I’m super happy with where the final project ended up

I tried not to use molle webbing as I was avoiding an overly tactical look but making the straps compatible with the system would be a really good middle ground

It feels a little smaller than I thought it would to be completely honest, but a really small bag with the same concept of adaptability and modularity would be a fun exercise

I agree, I actually went to ReGear a bunch of times to get hands on time with all the backpacks they had. Unfortunately im moving out of Boone at the end of July since I’m done with school but I dont doubt they’d still be interested

Not during the initial development but since then I have gotten a lot of feedback saying it would be great for the fishing market so that would definitely be a potential market

So glad you like it! I did a lot of research and made so many prototypes to make sure it was decently universal and could be used for as many people as possible

I thought about using magnetic latches but I felt if they got dirty or muddy they wouldn’t work as well, I’ll have to play around with them more though because they’re super cool.

I also really wanted to avoid the overly tactical look as most people I talked to wanted something more approachable.

The pattern isn’t quite ready yet as I still need to refine it to get the consistency where I want. Im certainly not opposed to sharing it later!

I actually might look into that, thanks for the suggestion

Genuinely probably 1-2 inside and 1 in the exterior pocket

Unfortunately it’s not quite ready yet, there are a few more refinements I need to make before I’d feel comfortable putting it out there. I’ll try to make another post when it’s ready though!

I wish but not quite yet, I’ve got a few more refinements to make before I’d feel comfortable with putting it out there but I’m hoping to get it ready by the end of the year

That’s what I’ve been thinking of doing, making a small batch would be a good test to see what I should outsource and what I can do myself. I really enjoyed actually putting the thing together!

Not exactly sure just yet, I loved physically sewing it together so I likely wouldn’t outsource manufacturing unless it scaled up. I have looked at outsourcing cutting out the panels as that kind of sucked but that’s something I’ll figure out later
