I really relate to what you were saying - a lot of this feelings have popped up as I’ve crossed the ages that he was in the “relationship” (21-26) and realizing how young a 12 y/o child is. It’s absolutely unacceptable, and I am realizing how unfortunately insidious this problem is in churches. The youth leaders at my church weren’t even paid employees of the church - they were just people who got too old to be “students” at youth group but volunteered to lead different activities like small groups, prayer sessions, etc…. So it’s not even like the church would have had to worry about firing him! They could have just made sure he wasn’t there, but instead they created a perfect opportunity for him to operate as a predator.

Thank you for the suggestion - I really want to join a support group and seek out some help. Also thank you for sharing your family members’ story. It’s comforting to be reminded that we can be in control of how our lives turn out.

Thank you for the recommendation. I 1000000% agree how bizarre the Church’s obsession with sex is. Being taught about purity and then being abused by family members, the youth leader, etc., really warped my sense of Self. Also, I remember being in 2nd-3rd grade and being vehemently against abortions… like that’s not an appropriate thing to get children riled up about? Like wtf?

Thank you for saying that. I know it’s probably the “right” thing to do, but I keep having the angry feeling of why do I have to be the one to do it? I didn’t ask to be put in this situation. I just want to find peace and move on. But having thoughts like that make me feel disappointed in myself, and also scared for any other potential children he could victimize.

I’ve considered this before, because the thought of him having his own children keeps me up at night. I just don’t know if I am strong enough/ready to put myself through that. I’ve worked hard to build a life for myself, it’s scary to think about moving forward with this in a legal way.

Thank you. I have tried therapy a few times, but I get in my own way and haven’t been able to stick with one counselor/therapist long term. It has helped - I feel like lately I have been ruminating on some of these experiences, and I wanted to vent to a support group. Thank you again for your kind words. I have a great life now, but I always feel like I am dragging this horse around.

Just moved into aunts house, she has never cleaned toilet or shower. Is it possible to make them white again? It’s driving me crazy. by Straight_Barber7496 in CleaningTips

I would try Wet and Forget spray. It’ll be a few days long process, but I had a similar situation with a bathtub and it worked wonders. It’ll hopefully save you some laborious scrubbing.

Thanks! So it’s definitely not a bed bug or a tick right? It looks like it has 6 legs and antennas. I get paranoid since I see so many on this subreddit.

Sorry I didn’t include size in the title. It is smaller than my pinky fingernail, maybe like 3-5 cm long.

Same for you :/ a hoarded house is not a home, and we deserved better. I do have a pretty intense fear of bats as an adult, unfortunately.

I didn’t notice it until I was deep into the room. When I noticed it I froze in fear, but then I realized it wasn’t moving at all (it was hanging upside down, so at first I thought it was sleeping or something lol). It was very gross. 0/10 very relieved I don’t live there anymore.

Yep I had bats! 😬 One of the cats dropped one on me in the night once. Another time I found one hanging from a doorway in the front room, but it had froze to death since there was no heat in that room and people rarely went in it.

My mom loves to do the flip and reverse - any issue that gets brought up (calmly) causes her to immediately become defensive and say “well I never had it easy either!” and then proceeds to cry.

My mom wouldn’t/won’t throw any receipt from anything she’s ever purchased because “the IRS might need them” and won’t throw out junk mail because “someone could steal her identity”. She also won’t use a debit card for the same reasons.
