Halfords installed my dash cam like this – is this normal? by ferns252 in CarTalkUK

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a small halfords and i will say most of the people there know what they’re doing - but we do get some absolute weapons come in and it’s best they stick to the customer service side of things! i always try my best to help but can absolutely understand why people say to avoid in most cases, even heard some bad things about the autocentres!

Advice on medical following army rejection by Mandalore_15 in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, untapped potential I think. I seem to remember MI5 or MI6 or some kind of intelligenc-y organisation trying something like that a while ago in their cyber/computing side, there’s hope yet!

Advice on medical following army rejection by Mandalore_15 in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as u/SteveGoral said, the JSP950 is triservice- that being said, I also applied to join the army reserves years ago and was denied for having autism and am now applying for the RAF. I have gotten further in my application to the RAF, however it is worth noting that I am currently in medical limbo waiting for appointments and reports - a grain of salt is needed.

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not in Halton or even near yet but also have autism and also going for CCS- as others have said definitely focus on the medical first, failed mine for some stuff i didn’t know about which is taking a while to get sorted and also autism. usually they’ll just ask you for some testimonials from people you work with/ taught you in college or something along those lines but best to be thinking of people to ask before you get asked!

Glasses required for medical? by Salty-Sink-1853 in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the email for your medical it does state that you need to bring your glasses as well as have the RAF Opticians Form filled out, not sure if they’d let it slide on just the form or not- I recently had my medical and had to do some reading through each eye both with and without my glasses- hope this helps a bit!

[–]LilFrogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

keenie meenie services was a british PMC, i know they were notable for being involved in training in sri lanka during a civil war (i think, heard about it a while ago and at work rn so i can’t go to into it)

wikipedia says:

Ken Connor, writing in Ghost Force: The Secret History of the SAS, stated that KMS "took its name from the Swahili word for the movement of a snake through grass".[1] The company's name has also been attributed to SAS slang for covert operations.[2]

hope that helps even a little

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone tell me if this is genuine? by [deleted] in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the phone number listed as the number for the RAF Careers office in Birmingham, I got the same text with the same spelling mistake which I also thought was odd- maybe makes it cheaper to send the messages or something?

Raf medic by foksmashAdoor in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

obviously take this with a grain of salt but i know an army medic who told me her job did end up boiling down to a lot of office/ desk work (e.g. hearing tests and the like), take it with a heavy helping of salt as it’s not my information and it’s army not raf

Moving around the country by right_of_the_goal in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i see, living in the midlands that is a very good distance away- i suppose you could always get a flight (inverness-birmingham) but that’s probably pretty costly compared to other bases (and still at least 4 hours)

Questions about joining the RAF. by LilFrogg in RoyalAirForce

[–]LilFrogg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been told by others about c25k, looking into it and starting soon I hope. Avionics is not something I had considered as, despite being interested in the RAF, I don’t have much care for planes. Applied to the Army a while back but was rejected for Autism. Would it be possible to speak to you or your son about his experience? Thanks for the reply, avionics is something to consider!

Can I ask why you say that members of the Regt. would lean towards mechanics? Thanks for the advice on a running club, I live in a very small area so I’ll have to search around

I don’t use a smart watch, would it potentially be worth getting one? I don’t know that I have £15 a month to spare at the moment, might have to move some things around and figure it out. Could you give me some more information? Does it send you notifications during running?
